  • Is a deal that makes sense, wont be surprised if he ends up there on a permanent deal
  • Wasn't getting enough game time in L1, was never going to in the Championship. Shame, I had high hopes for him but he joined unfit at a time where our team couldn't have been a worse one to try and integrate yourself into. Hopefully his injury issues will improve and he can have a decent career still
  • Don’t get that one single bit, out of contract at the end of the season. Should have cashed in for whatever we can get instead of loaning him out once again
  • He was never going to play for us this season.

I guess it might have been nice to have sold him permanently, seeing that he'll be out of contract next summer, e.g. a nominal fee and 20% sell on type of deal, but with his recent fitness issues, Northampton maybe weren't interested.

If we'd sold him to Northampton now we could have bagged a multi-pack of Monster Munch and a couple of packets of Chocolate Hob Nobs as a fee; at season's end we'd be lucky to get a bag of Mini Cheddars as compensation.

Good luck to him, very likeable bloke and so are his family, the right character for Charlton and the right player imo, just the wrong timing.

I am gonna predict he will smash it there if he stays fit, and either a lower finishing champ side will pick him up, or a newly relegated champ side/league 1 team with promotion ambitions get him on a free.

Personally think he's too good for Northampton who will be in a relegation scrap more than likely.

Good luck again Terry, wish you the best 👍🏻
  • Surprised Johnnie Jackson didn’t take him. Giving him first pick of players we are willing to loan out makes a lot of sense to me. Apart from us knowing him and him knowing us, (like Nathan ) he’s got (Wimbledon) promoted in his second season, did a pretty good job as temporary manager and in all likelihood would be on the shortlist for when Nathan goes, to another club, the Wales job, or whatever, or calls it a day. They are also near enough to keep close tabs n the players and for them to not have to move. A closer cooperation now could pay dividends later. I’d definitely like one of the strikers to go there if we do loan one out.
  • Good luck to him, thought he was an excellent signing at the time and it’s just not really worked out for him (mainly due to injuries)

I’m sure he’ll have a good season there and will likely find himself at a bigger league 1 side next season.

  • Terry Taylor's time at Charlton has never got going and Injuries have held him back and this makes sense for the lad.
Kevin Nolan thanked the cobblers board so they are paying TT wages.
I hope he stays fit or gets fit and has a good season as at 24 he can still progress.

I'm guessing nobody wanted to pay a fee for him. He's gone to Northampton so he's not hot property.
  • Mid table L1 feels about his level at the moment. The sort of player who will look decent and be loved at a Burton or a Northampton. A decent season at Northampton, and maybe he'll get a move to a bigger L1 team.
  • He’s a league 1 player (a better one than we saw with us) with maybe championship potential if he can stay fit for a few years. We’ve outgrown him though so the right move to get rid

Do we have an optional year on his contract to try and get a fee if the loan goes well again?

How much do you think Northampton can afford?

Who else would pay a fee?

Let's guess he was on £4k pw.  That is up to £208k in wages that we have saved assuming the Cobblers are paying all or some of it.

Good luck to him, takes a very good dead ball but was unlucky with injuries.  Hopefully he can build his career again with his new side.

We'll buy him back next season once relegated 😃

This is us cashing in for whatever we can get. This is a currently injured 24 year old midfielder who has had surgery yet again on a repeatedly injured ankle. He has played 32 league games across the past two seasons and the most games he has played in a season for one club is 26. He hasn't had an injury-free season since 20/21. Us getting Northampton to cover hopefully all but maybe even just some of his wages while he has no chance of playing for us is the best we can hope for in the current circumstances.
  • Oh, there's a new thread for Terry Taylor's loan. My OCD is not going to be able to cope with this.....

You honestly think the club turned down a bid so they could loan him out instead?
What you don’t think we can get rid of someone who is pretty decent in league 1 for a minimal fee (no fee) with a decent future percent sell on?  He has potential to turn out decent if he can stay injury free

Seems not. Maybe the wages he's on are already a challenge for Northampton (he did come on a free to us after all)? Maybe his recent injury history has reduced his value?

Whatever the reason, we obviously couldn't get anything for him or we would have.

I’m sure his wages would have gone up on promotion too so probably out of their price range if they’d had to pay a fee on top.

There were a few other teams linked that might have been able to afford him, but I’d imagine that was likely either Taylor’s agent or us trying to get things moving and flush out some interest that might have more money to spend
  • We will never see him in a Charlton kit again
