It's because none of their keepers are on a pro contract which classifies their need for a keeper as an (obviously relative) emergencygolfaddick said:Seems to defeat the object of a transfer embargo then. Yes I know, goalkeeper is a protected status blah blah blah.....

Shame that Middlesbrough won, just opens the gap back up to second a little bit.0

No worries, Nathan has his eyes further up the table and overtaking Coventry anyway 😉ForeverAddickted said:Shame that Middlesbrough won, just opens the gap back up to second a little bit.1 -
I admire the positivity. I was more pleased that Wednesday lost so the gap at the bottom doesn't close up.ForeverAddickted said:Shame that Middlesbrough won, just opens the gap back up to second a little bit.5 -
Think at this early stage, it doesnt hurt to keep an eye on both ends of the table.Chris_from_Sidcup said:

I'd be very surprised if we still within the top six come the business end of the season, within touching distance is a different matter, given how tight this League is I wont be surprised if we're about 4-pts off 6th, but about 12th or 15th2 -
We're miles off being ready for the Premier League at the moment.
I can't decide whether the cash from a year in the PL would really set up the club's future long term, or end up in a really disruptive Luton scenario2 -
Bit of both. We wouldn’t be using the money to build a new stadium but we probably would be at least looking at upgrading and maybe buying The Valley/SL.killerandflash said:We're miles off being ready for the Premier League at the moment.

Yeah thats the biggest concern... If we got up, we're getting annihilated every week.killerandflash said:We're miles off being ready for the Premier League at the moment.

Given how the owners have back Jones in the market this summer, I reckon they'd invest a lot of the TV money in an attempt to keep us up, but even then I doubt it'll be no where near enough0 -
They might well sell us if we got promoted, would be the smartest move if buying us was for an ROI.ForeverAddickted said:

Its an interesting point about being in the Premiership, Im honestly not sure I would enjoy it as we would be like most promoted teams at get smashed every week, Im loving the last 12 months and have got used to winning lol although the £££££'s would obviously be beneficial2

Less than a year ago we were miles off getting to the Championship, let alone being ready for it. Then we did get there and we went out and strengthened the squad.killerandflash said:We're miles off being ready for the Premier League at the moment.

Luton’s journey was basically from non-league to the PL but it still effectively had a non-league stadium when it got there, couldn’t stay and finding its natural level saw it drop even further to L1. Not dropping any further might take some doing.
Looking at a similar size and setup club to Charlton, unlike Ipswich, who went from L1 to the PL, Charlton hasn’t comparatively spent a shed load of money so most of the PL money if we were to somehow get there could be put to good use in keeping us there, whereas given it’s likely the investors will individually at that point have still put in relatively modest amounts of their own money they could decide that would be an opportunity where also buying the Valley back would only enhance the value of their investment further whether they decide either to realise a likely significant profit by selling up, or double down and chase an even bigger return.0 -

9 changes for Ipswich.
Edit: In fairness they've gone back to a similar lineup that played Boro.0 -
Coventry look very good. A team full of confidence.1

That being said, Watford could easily be level with the amount of chances they’ve hadlordromford said:

Watford player red carded. That’s going to stop Watford attacking and leaving space for Coventry to counter attack1

Making 7 changes midweek then 9 changes today is nonsense.Addickted2TheReds said:9 changes for Ipswich.

We've seen it when teams make lots of changes for cup games against lower league sides and look disjointed, but to do that for a league game is arrogance which got the result McKenna deserved.
