Sad to hear Joey Jones has passed away aged 70, a good player back in the day.

    I liked him as a character / player.

    In the days before the internet I did hear that we tried to sign him just before he joined Chelsea as his Welsh team mate Leighton Phillips was advising Ken Craggs and had already bagged Carl Harris and we had a large Welsh contingent.

    Of course it could be argued that Simonsen gained revenge for Monchangladbach's European Cup defeat by the way he turned Jones a couple of times in our epic 1983 win against Chelsea.
