Definitely, as long as he stays fit!

Think he’s great and so composed on the ball. He is getting a bit of a free pass re recent goals conceded, including today when he was out of position leaving a lot of space and exposing TC. Gillesphey would have been called out for that. Very pleased he’s back and hope he can stay fit for the rest of the season. Could indeed be a PotY contender if we sign a proper LWB to complement him (or Edwards makes a miracle come back).

Agreed - i think Bell is the player Ramsey should be looking to emulate - not a bad role model coz the bloke's a class act and i think Ramsey had been our best player for about a month before his injury

There's always the risk of falling into the old cliché about players getting better when they're not playing (especially as results haven't/hadn't been great for a while) but he really was a massive miss at the back.

A back 3 of Burke, Jones and Bell all fit and firing is a truly momentous prospect, but sadly the chances of having all three simultaneously available and playing for any length of time is minimal.

Gets out of trouble and passes out or carries the ball in situations where Gillesphey would clear it or go long, handing possession back to the opposition.

We need more players with that ability on the ball if we're going to progress beyond fighting relegation at this level. JRC looks like he can be another.

Bell is very composed and our defence is much stronger when he plays, he would probably be more than capable of starting for any team in this league so not a bad free transfer for us.

I agree that Bell really is a class championship player. He makes such a difference. I really hope we can keep him fit.

Yes exactly like that. Right now they look very good indeed but how long before one or more is out again through injury? Probably not as long as we'd wish - hence my "length of time" comment.

My pre-season thoughts on Bell are ageing like wine.

We have 4, very, very good defenders in Edwards, Bell, Jones and Ramsay.

If that was our backline every game, we would have conceded way less.

i'd add Burke to that list - i like macca but too vulnerable when up against pace

I have Burke in the same level.  Back 5 of them every game we would be comfortably mid table.  But if Burke and Bell didn't have an injury in them we wouldn't have them.

Deep down I don't want us to play a back 5 and that's why I've not included him, and his injury issues 😂

But you're both spot on. If that was our back 5, no silly goals are getting conceded.

Ramsay Burke Jones Bell Edwards in a back 5 and I think we’d go the whole season without conceding again

Anyone who could get an entire season out of all five of them could start their own religion... and I would join it.

I thought he was in place & TC was caught upfield when we lost possession.
(which was why TC came sprinting back too late).

I love the bloke. His first few games he worried me and I was 100% sure he would get caught playing silly buggers but that’s all gone now and I’m sure he is going to mug the opposition player off and play calmly out lol

I'd never heard of him before we signed him and was put off by Luton fans claiming his pace had gone due to injury. Hamstrings vulnerable, but a quick and classy player. And he keeps Macca on the bench.
  • We need a song for him!

TC wasn’t “caught upfield” as such - he was playing his role to help us get forward when Berry softly lost the ball. Shown in this clip: https://m.youtube.com/watch?si=Xnf2SSssCEop8vio&v=N9lO6m2qwNs&feature=youtu.be

Agree with all of this. Definitely a POTY candidate and one of our best players. But I also thought he could maybe have done more to get out to the crosser on Saturday, maybe done more to block Pompeys winner, and it was his man that scored pompeys first from the corner. First 2 I mentioned are maybe a bit harsh and it’s his first few games back so understandable if he was a little rusty

Wingbacks shouldn’t be at fault for getting forward when a midfielder loses a ball in possession as long as they work to get back.
