You, me and Karen Carney agree.
With the two offside goals correctly ruled offside for France this German side with so many of their players either injured or suspended the fitness at this top level of the professional women's game is so advanced from even 10 years ago.
In a game like this I'm surprised the French Manager didn't keep Cascarino on longer. The French team are losing their belief and the strong German mentality is still alive.

    Worst run up ever

Kinda shite I'd do as a 9 year old

That was a truly bizarre run up. No way would it set you up to strike the ball properly.

Some really good penalties started by the excellent Minge but suddenly one German pen is missed.
Six good pens and two poor so far. Berger scores !
11 pens scored and only 2 missed.

Make that 3 missed and Berger is the player of the match and the star of the show.

I understand Women's football isn't rated on CL by the majority but I thought that was good entertainment and brilliant passion.

Enjoyable game and the penalties were good. The only crap one was the Ftench one with the silly run up. But overall Germany deserved that - France have some real quality but never really made the extra ayer count.

I can’t believe the German captain is called Minge 🤣

Laura Woods  repeated what Alex Scott said on Thursday: England find a way to win 🤔
I watched Sweden find a way to lose with not going 3-0 up after another mistake at the back and then being 1 penalty kick away from winning on 3 occasions.

Great game tonight and yet again French Flair doesn't always win when Germany have powerful athletes with a strong mentality and decent footballers to boot who can take Penalties in the shootout including keeper Berger.

Tournament football is always about peaking in the KO rounds and France peaked too early and were a tad unlucky but the offsides were correct.

Another strange carry on fact is that Minge has played against Nobbs *🤦🏻‍♀️

*Jordan Nobbs 71 caps for England also had a 13 year career at Arsenal and the diminutive Nobbs scored 52 goals in 157 matches. She has now signed for Newcastle nearer her Stockton roots after a spell at Villa.

Pens were pretty decent in the shootout , some to- bins hit as well , did the German girl who missed in the match take the seventh and winning penalty, I was half a kip and I think a son said this
a bit strange to be first choice in the match and melt away to seventh in the shootout but job done anyway .

Across the 4 quarter finals, there were 33 penalties taken.

    17 scored.
    16 missed.

That is an incredibly bad success rate.

Agree that was perverse as there were some cracking goals scored or narrowly chalked off for off side in many of the Q Final games.

Not the shockers that were rugby conversions but some credit to the keepers that pulled off some good saves even if too many of the pens were telegraphed.
Hannah Hampton seems petite compared to Mary Earps but is agile and made vital saves in normal time as well as the poor quality shoot out with Sweden.

The powerful Amazon that is Lucy Bronze hit the ball with such venom that it we would have taken the female keeper into the net with the ball.

Germans winning penalty shoot outs with 6 out of 7 scored feels we are back to some normality.

My son was at the France v Germany match near the German contingent and the bizarre 1st penalty from France was met with Schadenfreude. He was working for his football academy and said the midnight finish was the latest he can remember in the 56 countries in the world he has watched football.

With female keepers being much shorter than modern male ones, the success ratio ought to be higher, not lower.

It's not like trying to beat a giant like Donnarumma.

When i was in Qatar for the World Cup, the England games v USA, Wales and France kicked off at 10pm local time. The Argentina-Holland knockout game that went to penalties i think finished at 1am.

Feel confident against Italy, but not the final, which will probably be Spain.
I can see Germany sneaking past Spain which would make for an interesting final if we don’t muck it up against Italy.

I was a bit disapointed with Spain against Switzerland. A game which told me they were beatable and Germany are one of the teams that can beat them if all their ducks align. But they will need a lot of luck and it is still hard to look beyond Spain as winners. I think it is equally hard to look past England as finalists although Italy have made great strides over the last couple of years.

I don't think England need to change their tactics against Italy but they will need to do so against Spain being a little more risk averse at the back and more direct. But I think that is unlikely.
