Charlton Athletic are delighted to confirm the permanent signing of striker Tanto Olaofe from Stockport County for an undisclosed fee.

The 25-year-old was a crucial part of the Stockport side that finished third in Sky Bet League One last season, scoring 12 goals and registering four assists. Prior to that he netted 21 goals in County’s promotion-winning 2023/24 campaign.

Olaofe, who has signed a three-year contract with a club option of an additional year, becomes the Addicks' third signing of the summer following the arrivals of Sonny Carey and Thomas Kaminski.

After putting pen to paper, the forward said: "It's a great feeling. There's a great atmosphere at The Valley so I'm looking forward to playing there. Hopefully I can help elevate the team in the right direction because the current trajectory is a very good one."

Manager Nathan Jones added: "We’re really happy to sign Tanto. He fits everything we want to do here in terms of his profile - he’s young, hungry, athletic and he wants to play at the next level. He’s one that will continue to get better. He’s had a real good time at Stockport and we felt it was the right time to bring him in. He’s someone we’re really excited about."

The Lewisham-born striker joined Millwall at the age of 14 and made his professional debut in the first of three successful loan spells at Sutton United, where he lifted the National League title after netting 16 goals during their promotion season. He also enjoyed a temporary switch to Scottish side St Johnstone and featured three times for Millwall's first-team before joining Stockport in 2023.

Very good signing and a 3+1 year contract is good also.
Nathan is being backed to perhaps do a bit more than just survive in The Championship.

Over £2m on fees already, exciting to think there may be room to spend a few more million on signings rather than being limited to frees, bargains and loans.

We shouldn't be signing Addicts (or is the title incorrect?)

    Also this could be defamation.

Nice “spine “ being built, GK, MF, now a hungry striker. What is not to like.
I have a lovely warm feeling about this season.

Is this the bloke who skied that brilliant chance Stockport had at the end of the 2nd leg?
