Half time service improvements needed

Given that in league 1 it was almost impossible to get a drink at halftime…Covered end upper..what are the odds with a bigger crowd in the Championship…. What can be done to make the service faster… better… could start with drinks only queues… and line them up faster?

I am not one for a half time pint, but I can see the value in drinks only queues, well, beer only to be honest.  As long as they are really clearly signposted.

Didn’t the club do drinks only queues last year? Maybe in the West stand ?
  • I never witnessed the beer vending machine.  Did it ever get put in?  Did it work well?
  • They need to open another bar up there or get more taps and staff.
  • Used to have drink only queues when we were in the premier League. Wasn't brilliant but we had full crowds. As we went down the leagues they did away with drinks only queues. With a lot less people in the ground the queues were still as bad as when we were in the premier League. Couldn't understand why they changed it.
  • Bottled beer, job done.
  • If you want a pint, go down the pub

If you want to watch football, go to a game.
Need not be mutually exclusive, and you can manage it at any other sports event.

A nice pint gets my vocal chords oiled up and energised for a good sing whilst surrounded by the Bovril bores : ))
  • Never see the point in trying to get a pint in the 15 minutes between half’s . Smacks of desperation. Drink before and after by all means .
Functioning alcoholics are football fans too!
  • we had a cart selling Bovril, tea, coffee and bottled beer and soft drinks at one stage. Used to be where the ale/betting kiosk was in the east stand. Thought that was a good idea.
  • Lightweights like me take 30 minutes to enjoy drinking a pint anyway.  For those who enjoy throwing a pint down their neck without touching the sides i think a separate beer queue is needed.

  • Upper West v Burton was a new low. It’s like they were trying to set a record. There must be another way.

  • Anyone go to Old Trafford for the Carabao Cup game? Service was way slower there and that was at a club that are used to handling 70k+ crowds

Problem is it's not just during the 15 min half time. People leave their seats after 40 mins and get back to their seats well after the 2nd half has started......usually at least 5 mins into it & sometimes as much as 10.

As well as a safe standing section, a singing section I think there should be a drinking section......where all those who can't go 2 hours without alcohol can sit together.

That or I just won't get up to allow the drunkards past. Funny how they all seem to sit in the middle of a row 🤔.
  • I can't see why they cannot pre-pour 100 pints before the first 45 are up? They know they're going to be sold.

This system works unbelievably well at the Ally Pally for the darts.

weirdly the NU bar towards the West stand pulls loads of half pints and then tops them up when you order, totally pointless - as you say, just have 150+ pints ready to go

They go too flat too quickly I think. The solution is to get those fast filling from the bottom taps they have at Spurs but they must cost a pretty penny

Most football fans who like a drink at a ground are quantity drinkers, not quality drinkers
    Doesn't stop them moaning!
