Nice. They’ve been tendering this for months.  Lots of work has gone into this from various places.  Plenty of delays and “hold on, we’ll get back to you”

    did they fuck

just went with the cheapest quote or a more flexible payment plan.  Good luck to them.

Isn’t that defined as ‘sustainable’ by our club these days?
    😉😆

I imagine we wont learn how much of a cash investment this sort of thing is. But regardless It has to be a step up from
the current set up from a fans perspective.

Nor should we - but the sum of the outgoings can/will be gleaned from the annual statement.

But on the main point - a more flexible payment plan makes sound business sense for any organisation. The caveat is with the 'cheapest option' - it doesn't necessarily indicate inferior but the old adage of 'buy cheap, buy twice' springs to mind. I'm sure the floodlights will be fit for purpose.

On the Millwall install, cut the power needed for a match under lights by 62%
We'd already done that by not having all the lights working at the same time in any game.

Hopefully they can fix the Jimmy Seed signage at the same time- I’m assuming it will be lights on there too but perhaps not.
  • Is this digital Fan interaction?

Not a fan of sponsors on the back of shorts, but good news that the floodlights will be sorted this year.

We had to upgrade as the requirements are higher in The Championship, and higher still in The Premier league.

presumably we will future proof ourselves and install something suitable for both eventualities

The reason half the lights didn’t work was because the replacement bulbs were almost impossible to get hold of and had to be made bespoke l in Netherlands by Philips.  They cost a bloody fortune too 😆

so the club went with the bare minimum and had to move components from brighter areas to the darker areas.  It was a proper bodge job in the end but it did the job

The most expensive one I could find is listed at 153 SOL which is $25k.

However you can list them however expensive you like it doesn't mean they're worth that. Most of them are listed at 0.030 SOL which is about $5.

Why didn’t they just take the bulbs out of the ones that worked and put them in the ones that didn’t!  Simple really!

All the chat about light shows…I usually don’t like that NFL nonsense, but I don’t have a particular problem with a pre-match light show.

I’m definitely not sitting here hoping for one, but if they do it, I’m not sure it’s that bad is it?

I just pray we don’t ever have goal music

    New lights = good

Talk of 'light shows' = bad

    That's my take.

"We're not just installing lights—we’re delivering technology that transforms how fans feel and remember the game".

    Thats quite the quote.
If I get to page 2 of this thread and this hasn’t been replied to with a picture of that cravat wearing marketing genius behind the upsurge of ticket sales during a promotion run-in THEN I WILL BE VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH ALL OF YOU…

I don't mind the lightshow stuff. I remember Hull having it 10 years ago before the game there.

A better memory than the 6-0 defeat anyway.

Not a fan of this. These light shows that so many clubs do now are awful, very American.

Not into light shows.....the illuminating stuff should be on the pitch.

And not sure what they mean by the upgrade will be done later this year ? Too late then. It needs to be done now when the stadium is not being used.......not in mid November when it's dark before 5pm and the floodlights even need to be used during afternoon matches.

I did wonder about that wording  too. Hopefully just a poor choice of words as very odd otherwise.
