Away travellers - What new grounds next season?

  • Just Swansea and Oxford for me although my visits to the Racecourse have been for a couple of Welsh international fixtures back in the 1980s and not for Charlton.
  • International weekends will be completely blocked out, including 11 October and 15 November. Also be even more 12.30 kick offs on sky. But lots more grounds in the south. League 1 becoming very northern!
  • Hull, Boro, Blackburn, Coventry, Derby, Stoke, Leicester... Basically every shite town in England... Oh and Swansea.
  • Stoke for me,  did some work on that windy place but never seen us play in the 'new' ground whatever it's called.

One of the reasons prefer if The Valley wasn't sponsored. To me Stoke is the Britannia stadium, but that changed to a betting company a few years ago.

The Britannia Building Society weren't sponsors then?
  • Can't really believe it but there will be no new grounds for me to visit next season !

The Championship will contain at least 14 of my most visited clubs over the past 35 + years.

Ipswich, Leicester, WBA, Millwall, Portsmouth( my favourite !), Sheffield Weds, Norwich, Watford, QPR, Stoke, Oxford, Derby, Birmingham, Blackburn.

Just need to keep healthy & solvent to make those trips once again.
It's depressing, and a sign of our status in the last 15 years, that my most visited ground as an away fan is Wycombe, with 7 visits  :#

Yeah been the Britannia from when opened til 2016. I remember the signs in the A50 riding past on my motorbike when it first opened. The sponsorship helped pay for construction, without it Stoke would not have afforded it. Michelin factory was same area, I think now closed for manufacturing. Might make Stoke next season, love an Oatcake

  • Been to them all, the only one not with Charlton being Wrexham.
  • Coventry, Southampton and Swansea for me. Not optimistic about getting a ticket in the away end at St Mary’s given it’ll be our first visit since 2011!

Get 3000 tickets though so easily reach general sale
  • Just two for me - Hull and Swansea.

Was meant to do Hull in 2020, but it was the first game to be affected by lockdown.

Norwich, Southampton, Leicester, Hull and Swansea to tick off.

Blackburn the only one I'm actively looking to avoid going back to.

  • Swansea Hull Wrexham and Sheffield Utd.
  • Just Millwall for me, I get too nervous on the day and can't bring myself to go. Hoping to get over that fear this season.

There's a few I'd like to visit. Main ones being Preston (used to work there a lot, but never got to Deepdale), Middlesboro and Plymouth (get the more distant ones done before I get too old).

You won't be doing Plymouth next season, that's for sure.
  • Amazed how many people mention Norwich, considering how many opportunities there have been and what an easy trip it is. It's also one of my favourite away games due to the decent beers and the number of wins I've seen there.
  • Make a weekend of it and hit the coast, Cromer is my favourite.
  • Just Wrexham for me.

Just realised that I've made that statement as an old git and we haven't had too many trips there in recent years.
  • Southampton, Hull, Swansea, Birmingham, Preston, Sheff Weds, Sheff Utd, Bristol City and Coventry - 9 new grounds all tough tests - what’s not to like…

Love visiting Carrow Road. Good friends who are Norwich fans live near Mildenhall so we always stay with them and make a weekend of it. Seen some great performances there, Hunt’s hat trick in a 4-0 win and a magical Mortimer finish.

Ha ha, yes you're right. I made that mistake yesterday when discussing it with my son, but still forgot their relegation today. I think I just fancy a little holiday down in Devon tbh ;)

I like Norwich but have never been to a game there. One of those clubs, where our fortunes have diverged in recent times, so we've not played very often. Indeed this is only the second season since 2009/10 where we've been in the same league!

    Or hit the broads...Wroxham.
