Needed something to distract me today, so have been piecing together some all-time Charlton play off XIs. These are just based on performances in play-off matches alone for the Addicks. I feel one will be easier than the other...
Best XI:
GK: Illic - Penalty heroics
DEF: Rufus - Late goal to take it to extra time in 99
DEF: Shirtliff - 2 late goals to win in 87
DEF: Bauer - 90+4 2019. Enough said
DEF: Purrington - Another Wembley goal scorer
MID: Bielik - In just for that first goal in the home semi. That roar...
MID: Cullen - Played superbly plus the last minute assist in 2019
MID: Kinsella - Just a bloody legend
MID: Williams - Such an impact sub
FWD: Mendonca (c) - You don't get better than a hat trick in the final
FWD: ? (Soon to be Godden... - I can't face putting Lyle Taylor here but he would probably be in for his goal at Donny...)
Worst XI (I'm struggling with a little more here):
GK: Darren Randolph - 0/5 on pens
DEF: Naby Sarr - The own goal and the missed pen in the semi
DEF: Miguel Llera - Red card v Swindon
DEF: Gary Borrowdale - Just bad
DEF: ?
MID: Bailey - That penalty is still travelling
MID: ?
MID: ?
MID: ?
FWD: ?
FWD: Parker - Harsh, but needs recognition in one of these teams
Any suggestions?

Can include Sullay Kaikai in Midfield as well from the 2018 Play-Off team that lost to Shrewsbury - Matt Fry in Defence for when we lost to Swindon?
I'd have Neil Heaney in for breaking Tarico's nose.
I'd possibly let it slip by without comment if you'd given it to Kinsella but there is only one Captain Fantastic over the last 40 years.
You could argue a case that if it hadn't been for Shirtliff's extra time goals in 1987 - and therefore we'd lost been relegated and possibly sunk without trace with no return to The Valley - then the success under Lord Llewellyn in the 90s and 00s would never have happened.
THAT is why I'd have him as captain: his importance extends off the pitch as well as on.
We also lost a play-off semi-final to GnatsPiss, back in the 90's. You could look at that team too.
Agree
An Ex Charlton player said everyone knew David Whyte was a talent but his time keeping was poor which didn't impress Curbs.
