I think the tourism argument gets trotted out with no real evidence. Having said that, I have no problem with them whilst agreeing with others that we pay for a few too many of them.
Having said that - If Eugenie is getting married, which she is entitled to do, she could be seen as a target and security has to be there.
There are always alternatives, but the royals are safe as long as they a run by a monarch like the Queen. The next bad one and they are history which is, I am guessing, why Charles hasn't been given a go at it! Not saying he would be a bad king, but the Queen must have her doubts!
