Ask the Stag if wants weekend away abroad or in this country and go from there.

Can always also have a big night out in this country for those who can't go abroad.

    If you want sophistication, Blackpool.

Some sound advice on here around activities.

I had quite a few stag do's for my wedding as 2005 was a good year for Oasis gigs and Charlton away days but my main one was in Riga and the only 'wacky' thing we did aside from drinking, casinos, nightclubs and stripclubs was going on a toboggan ride just to break up the day a bit. Mainly it should be spent drinking and having a laugh.

Ive been on some rubbish stag do's for mates who aren't best mates, if you know what I mean.

The worst was a stag 'night' in Brighton which is a 2 hour drive from where I live. We met in the local (which was the best bit), sat on the mini bus on a hot Saturday afternoon with no beers allowed, went straight to a curry house (which nobody wanted), straight to an overpriced strip club (full up and stinking of curry), straight to the big tacky nightclub I cant remember the name of and then 2 hours on a dry bus home.

Most of us said we would have had a better night staying put in the local.

Depending on budget you cant go wrong with a weekend in Amsterdam, Prague, Riga, Benidorm, Blackpool etc - basically anywhere you wouldn't go with the missus.

Was in Prague for 3 nights a coupe of weeks ago. Beautiful city that's ridiculously cheap (average beer at about £1.20-£1.50; cheaper available). Only problem with this stunning place is that it was full of rowdy stag and hen do's!!!

A mate had different "do's" for different groups of people.
Not all would've enjoyed a golf overnighter, day at the cricket or strip club (alright but you get the gist).
The one thing he did that the majority attended and enjoyed was a good old pub crawl. We did the monopoly board.

OK then let me add to my original comment. Since when did a stag "do" have to be a whole weekend?

agree with @paulbaconsarnie above, depends on the group of lads

for mine, we had a complete age range so we catered for the 'older' crowd too and went to Sandown Races for the day, convinced local pub to open at 7.30am, bar open - then 48 seater coach down there (think Jolly Boys outing) arriving at 11am.

back on the coach around 5, back to the pub where a crowd of us then went on to a club.

I arranged a football match for mine - did special t-shirts for teams etc... then onto pub then club. The football match was great -2-2 and I scored a goal! Was a great way to set the mood too and create a good thirst!

As a Bournemouth native I'd recommend it. Plenty of options for activities in the day time (paint balling, golf, fishing, cycling, pissing around on the beach & lots more). The night life is top notch now too, seems to be a new bar opening every weekend, you can hire stag do tour guides too. Plenty of hotels to stay at as well.

It was 7 years ago now but I told my best man he had a budget of £150 for flights and accommodation for 3 nights and we ended up in Kraków for 4 nights with some money over to go watch the footy whilst there. Accommodation was central and in decent apartments although 3 to a room. Also went shooting and white water rafting whilst there and 4 went to aushwitz on the Sunday as we had a spare day before going home. Cheap booze and food, decent gig, only 2 broken bones across the group. I will always be thankful to my best man for ignoring one of my mates Google searches which said you could set the groom up with a "dog attack" where I wore a costume and had to run away from snarling Alsatians!

To be fair, some of the best I have done have been UK and even just staying in London. Remember one poor sod who turned up and got given an outfit to wear which was reasonably tame and he thought he had got away with it then after coming out of the horses he was given a card with £5 in it and told he had to go in a charity shop and swap his clothes plus the fiver for a new outfit. Then coming out of a pub a bit later someone pulled a more revealing outfit out of a bag and he had to change again. Kept him on his toes without being too cruel.

    Other ideas
-fly to Helsinki and get the booze boat to Tallinn then have the stag there as it is cheaper.

Edinburgh was my favourite stag location in the U.K., excellent range of bars. Otherwise, renting a villa in Portugal was the most fun.

The new footgolf opening up in Burstow looks amazing, I think that's being geared up for stag dos. Although I agree with the above that drinking and eating venues rather than outdoor activities tends to make for a better day.

Any precise tips for Edinburgh Jimmy? Up there Fri night before the England game on Sat. Done Glasgow plenty of times but not Edinburgh.
I followed the crowd so no idea of the names of where we went. I can ask the ringleader now, he's shit at replying on WhatsApp but if he does I'll report back.

To be honest one of the ideas I've had so far would just be a day up in London - Junkyard Golf, maybe one of the table tennis bars then an Irish pub as the groom is half Irish and I think it would go down well.

But then he works in London so it's a bit boring to take him somewhere he might just go on a Friday after work anyway.

Mate exactly , it will be a bit zzzzz . Go abroad , somewhere he has nt been , much more of a laugh and there's loads of places in europe you can go to within a short flight . Stag dos are blinding wherever you go , i just think abroad is better , they'll be plenty of stories .

And you've got plenty of time to start saving up for it if its next year , decide on a couple of places then try and book the flights when they come out .

Get Jammy and Nutter to organise it ?

Take everybody on a nice tour of the Victoria and Albert Museum, followed by a slap up afternoon tea.
Then chain the drunken naked groom to a lampost with his genetalia covered with honey (organic).

Been to Cornwall for one, Bristol for another and then there was Barcelona.

    3. Bristol was shite and the strip clubs well overpriced.
    2. Cornwall was beautiful but the strip club was fairly priced
    1. Barcelona was beautiful and we saw Barca beat Rayo Vallecano 7-1, the strippers were stunning, though mega expensive.

That's about all I can remember from each one. Barca was cheapest for eating and drinking and I got to see a Messi hat-trick live...

    4. The next one will be in Prague...

Don't rule out going abroad. Newcastle cost me more for 2 days than Estonia did for 4 and was only slightly more expensive than 4 days in Magaluf. Drinks add up very quickly. Saving £2 per drink when you have 20-30 of them a day soon adds up!

In my opinion and in the last 5 years:

    Magaluf was crazy
    Prague is great
    Berlin is too spread out
    Estonia is great
    Ibiza is too expensive
    Tenerife is okay
    Latvia was okay
    Loret de Mar was okay

    Bournemouth is built for stags
    Newcastle is overrated
    Liverpool is okay

I have been on quite a few stag dos home and aboard. The best ones tend to keep the group together for most of the time, lads tend to get on and activities / something to do in the day is fairly important. The evening always takes care of itself...

Seville was surprisingly good, Ljubljana is very useful as well...

Oh, and avoid Sofia at all costs, the most depressing, grim and uneventful city I have ever been to.

Went to Spain for mine, been to Spain for a few others too. Magaluf was off the chart for bad behaviour but a great time had

Done eastern Europe a few times which was mental but I'm not sure I've got the constitution for one of them now. Bournemouth is always a good shout as is blackpool, Newcastle, Liverpool, Edinburgh , Cardiff, Manchester, Newquay (absolute cock fest mind you), the butlins weekenders also are decent and easy to get to for everyone

Nothing wrong with going abroad, staying in the UK doing it over an afternoon or a week. Horses for courses it's meant to be fun.

What I will say about going abroad is it gives more of a siege mentality for those in attendance as well as the chance to do a few things you can't do in the UK.

Have to agree it was a 5-1 men to women ratio when we went. Which was disappointing to the 3/4 single guys that were in our group (and a few in relationships too).

Golf day close to a decent nightlife is always a good one........if you like golf!

    Pretty much sums up Bournemouth.
I'll echo that - or Southampton.

However, both of my stag do's (yes, I had one for the 2nd marriage too but suppose it beats the object a bit) were fairly quiet affairs - the first was a pub crawl around Bexley & the second just a few beers in Dartford. No strippers, nightclubs or being stripped naked & being tied to a lampost.
Not too dissimilar - mine (only one - couldn't possibly afford a divorce) was in the Spanish Galleon in Greenwich when Don had it (former guvnor at the Royal Oak).

Bastards never even got me a strippergram. (but I did get shit-faced and fell out of there at 4am!).

I loved Ljubljana but not sure there's enough going on for a stag do.

We went to Munich, all organised thru www.chillisauce.co.uk/Stag‎ who were very good. I think we arranged the flights independently but the rest was all sorted.

If you want to get drunk and get your end away then Hamburg is great. The main area of bars (Reeperbahn) is right next door to St Pauli as well if you're going during the football season. It also seems to attract a huge amount of german girls on their hen do's as well.
