One nil win at home yesterday against Elche with the goal coming from the ever reliable David Rodriguez to put Alcorcon up to mid-table, but with many other teams playing today.

Away to Real Valladolid tonight, enthusiastic Alcorcon watchers.

    and lost 2-0

Won last night one nil away to Elche in the third round of the Copa del Rey to progress to the lucrative fourth round, where the Primera Liga clubs enter.

Roland will be hoping for a glamour draw against one of the big teams (Alcorcon knocked Real Madrid out a few years ago) if he actually knows what's going on with the team.

Thats the problem AM, has he ever visited Alcorcon? probably doesnt even know where it is.

Decent draw in the fourth round of the Copa del Rey against Espanyol: two legged tie in late November/December.

Pretty sure the Santo Domingo has never been graced by any Belgian presence!

Away to Mallorca at lunch time today, both sides needing a win to pull away from the relegation zone.

Alcorcon now have Julio Velazquez in charge, former Real Betis and Villareal manager, after sacking Cosmin Contra recently.

It's been a poor season so far, with progress in the Copa Del Rey the only real bright spot. Will write an update later on to report on how the Potters do.

Now 20th after losing 1-0 to a late penalty, only scored 4 goals all season

It's shaping up to be a grim season for Alcorcon, made worse by local rivals Leganes' success in the Primera Liga giving them South Madrid bragging rights.

Important win last week one nil against Mirandes to pull one place clear of the relegation zone.

This weekend is a Madrid derby against Getafe. Might try to get down there weather, work and wife permitting.

    What's their attitude towards Roland?
  • Options
He is still the owner but no longer the chairman and seems to be quite a distant figure for them, almost an urban legend.

Lost 1-0 to local rivals Getafe and now sit one off the bottom of the table. Last year's great season, just missing out on the playoffs on goal difference on the last day of the season, seems like a distant memory now. At this point of the season avoiding relegation to the dreaded third division is the priority.

Haven't been down to the Santo Domingo yet this season but will get along there at some point and see what the fans are thinking.

One nil win tonight at home to promoted and high-flying Reus to pull out of the relegation places, at least until the rest of their rivals play tomorrow.

No international break for second division here so a full programme this weekend. Currently watching top of the table Levante against Cadiz to warm up for Spain's qualifier against Macedonia tonight.

Currently one nil up away to Cadiz. Will update later for Alcorcon watchers.

Lost four one and back in relegation places. Cadiz on the edge of the playoffs now.

Unexpected 5-1 home win last night against Real Oviedo.

Home to Girona this afternoon after losing two nil away last week to fellow Madrid team Rayo Vallecano. Girona currently in third place so will be hard for Alcorcon to get much out of this, although they do have a good record at home this season. They have been dismal away from the Santo Domingo though.

Did have half an idea to head out there today but it's quite a trek and very cold here now!

Will keep an eye on the score and update later for Alcorcon/Segunda Liga enthusiasts.

2-1 win to go up to 14th. Levante stay top this week with Girona and Getafe a few points behind them.

Did you go , CM ?

Didn't make it - too cold, too far and too many exams to mark!

Beat top level Espanyol away on penalties last night after drawing with them over two legs to progress to the last sixteen of the Copa del Rey. One of only two remaining second league clubs left so should get another big team in the last sixteen.
  • Options
Drawn against Cordoba, the only other remaining Second Division team. Over two legs again so a decent chance of getting to the quarter finals.

    Proper Charlton Cup draw that!

Thanks for the updates @CharltonMadrid always interesting to see how other teams are doing.

My girlfriend and I are thinking of coming to Madrid for a weekend away 24th-27th Feb, thinking of maybe catching a game but was wondering what the weather is normally like and how 'English' is the food in Madrid? (We are both quite fussy)

Keep up the good work, appreciate it.

Hi Sage - good choice to come at the end of February. It's usually sunny at that time, although still pretty cold. Loads to do and see for a weekend and very friendly place. All kinds of food are available and there are places like TFI Friday if you want to play it safe. A tapas night out is essential Madrid though so I would recommend that: it can be mainly hams, cheeses, croqettes and potatoes if you want to stick to stuff you are comfortable with. There are also tapas tours you can sign up to.

Let me know if you need anything else, and have a great time!

Thanks mate, much appreciated. Hopefully can get it sorted and if there's anything else I'll ask. Thanks again.

Nil nil in first leg at home of Copa del Rey last night against Cordoba so a bit of a task now for the away leg to progress to the quarter finals. League season starts again at the weekend after the winter mini break.

Second leg of Copa del Rey on at moment. Currently 1-0 down at half time.
  • Options
Impressive turnaround in the second half to win the game 2-1 and qualify for the quarter finals which will be against a La Liga team. Very big money spinner for Alcorcon with another two legged tie.
