So how much would loaning Darren Bent cost?

Eight weeks left to save our season and stay up. £50k a week towards (?!) Darren Bent's wages = £400k. Is it worth it?

no, we need those things which other teams call crosses... hoof ball with Bent is pointless

He is already on loan at Fulham from Villa. Can't see it happening

I agree - Bent doesn't create anything in his own and since we sold Stephens we don't have enough to fashion chances for him so it would probably be a waste of money

No point splashing out on an expensive brush if you aint got any paint...............

He's on a season long loan, I'm not sure he can even be recalled by Villa outside the transfer window.

He looks about as interested as some of our players when I see him on MOTD, who would motivate him if he came?

We should loan Scott Parker as well. And maybe we can convince Claus Jensen to come out of retirement to play wide right.

And Costa at Centre back, like the old days!

Yes, he'd give the whole club a big lift. Would form a very dangerous partnership with Reza. With Harriot on one wing, Wilson on the other and AA in midfield we'd create chances for them. We've had a couple of long term loans taken away from us in the past, Smirtin being one, can't remember the other? I'd be confident of staying up if we managed to get him, he'd be too hot for Championship defenders.

    He wouldn't come . It's irrelevant .

Should be couldn't as (stated above) he's currently on loan...............

Can't see how Fulham who struggle to score goals would let a striker leave. The same probably applies to Becchio at Norwich.

How about Harry Kane from Spurs. Definitely got goals in him.Worth a try!

This thread is just getting sillier and sillier. Let's just get Messi and be done with it.

Swindon have got a decent young striker that might be worth a punt. Can't recall his name though. Michael something...............

    Bent.

If you could get him interested.

    If he is fit enough

    If we could create chances

If we could even get him given his current season long loan.

    If we could afford him.

Would still seem odd given, on analysis above we would have to pay 400K for his services which would suggest we had just spunked our Yann money on a loanee.

Does not make business sense in that regards and would effectively mean RD admitting a poor decision on Yann. Can't see it.

It makes perfect business sense - had we not sold Yann- we would have probably sp*nked £400k but had a better chance of staying up. Thus, losing less money. To bring in a player who may make a difference- we need to sp*nk some money.

The mistake in letting Yann and Stephens go can only be rectified IMO by sp*nking that money. And even with that, we need to find a couple of players of the right qulaity willing to come to us!
