trouble is south london office is havin wildcat strikes,i'm waiting on post sent from southend last wednesday,it is fcukin cripplin me,as I can't send about 5 jobs out until i receive it.This is when people lose sympathy and support for postal workers when it really starts effecting their businesses.
Problem is don't want to hassle clients when they maybe telling the truth when they say "it's in the post" but cash flow is rather important to the small businessman/self employed.
Some clients pay via BACS but then you don't get the remittance in the post so have to keep checking on-line and can't always match the payment up to an invoice from the on-line statement. Well at least I can't : - )
Also some small businesses prefer to send you a cheque as they see it as more direct and friendly. Don't really mind but have to admit opening a envelope to find a cheque sure beats a payment on an on-line account. Not logical as both money and one is already in your account but nice to have the cheque in your dirty little hand.

part of the reason the posties are on strike is the because of the mismanagement of their pension which is leaving them having to work more years before retirement all of a sudden while the chiefs are finding theirs are unaffected. They also are finding that their working hours are being changed at a moments notice which is obviously not good for anyone especially those with young families.
Henry, as it is called "Royal" mail do you think that they should stand and sing the national anthem before doing their rounds? (oooops ducks for cover lol)

Bollocks to them. They lose most of my post / post it next door / post to number 42 but on the wrong road anyway.
The problem with the posties is that they're in danger of cutting off their noses to spite their face. So their pensions aren't looking too great - well neither is mine, neither is anyones, and as Dan says I don't knock off work early every day.
Any major business would already have binned them for handling their post if they have any sense and this certainly isn't helping. When the Royal Mail loses it's VAT exemption - which is coming - then they really will be f*cked.
as a poster from here explained to me the other week, this strike is not done based onjust one factor but a build up of a number of issues, and certainly not just 'pay'.
I admire and respect anyone's right to stand up for what they believe in if they feel they are not being treated fairly. I equally loathe unions that that call strikes based on greed, and time the strikes to maximum impact the rest of the nation.
Its a very grey line, and i don't know enough about whether the posties are right or wrong to continue. But i do know that something that should of arrived on Friday still hasn't....
