Charlton Inspired Tees

I'm soon to be out of a job and due to not knowing my Uni hours, am setting up a few little projects to keep me going during this time.

A few days ago, I saw a post from someone on here about Charlton T Shirts which got me thinking. I love wearing Charlton tees, especially the Derek Hales/Che Guevara one that I got about 8 years ago. The only thing is, they are very infrequent and most of the time, pretty crap designs. So am thinking about having a go myself. Have uploaded one to the following link that I saw on the post and am wondering if anyone would buy one if I got some made up?  Have got contacts in the printing industry so they can be made up fairly quickly and cheaply. I also attend a lot of home games so they could be picked up from myself at The Valley.

Am willing to make a few fresh designs every so often and will take suggestions on anything that anyone wants.

Take a look, any feedback is greatly appreciated.

if theres copyright issues, just knock a load up and sell them slightly away from the ground on a match day.

be on your toes if you see cozzers tho alwite.

  • Maybe show some designs to the club 'Superstore' purchaser.

If they're willing to stock and sell your T Shirts, no problem ?

  • I wouldn't worry too much they are probably better than the majority of stuff on sale in the club shop!

Giving my age away, here ...... but I first thought the thread title was a headline from the late 60s.

Boom boom, I looked into this a few years ago. The club are very well covered in terms of copyright in relation to club name, ground, nickname, badge etc so I would be very careful as it could lead to more hassle than its worth.

It's also very different getting a few done and selling them on the quiet, its another thing having online pages advertising the stuff.

I was just curious because there seems to be loads of crappy ones on ebay so thought it was worth a look! Will keep going, cheers AFKA

And you can always get Rodneytrotter to help you with the suitcase. Give him a whisper. ;-)

it's a good idea and if you think you can make some money on them go for it.  best of luck

OK, puts on Business Advisor hat.

    1. beware of carrying too much stock.  It's the pain for all retail.  If you can produce them AFTER they have been ordered, which is what most on-line firms do, then great,  If not then do some homework on sizing and colours so your not left with 100 XS in white that no one will buy.

    2. Anything to do with the badge, sword, Charlton in any football context is copyright of the Club.  End of.  Will then kick your door down at 4.00am for flogging some t-shirts no of course not but if you are standing outside the shop without a trading license then like any business they will not be happy.

3 Think about the 4 Ps    http://www.quickmba.com/marketing/mix/    It will sound corny to the experts like Prague Addick and Kap10 but it's the core stuff to consider.

I like the bold designs, they're strong and eye catching.  Only thing is if I hadn't read your explanation of what "one aim" means would I get it or even be able to guess?

Nothing ventured, nothing gained so give it a go (but do your homework first)

Slightly off topic but a charlton life T-shirt would go down nice. Maybe the 2 can be incorporated together?

I got a lovely red tee years back off ebay. I bloody love it.  It had the Adidas logo printed on it but instead of saying Adidas it says Addicks... people kept doing a double take at my chest.

My favourite ever t-shirt... unfortunately not to be worn in public nowadays as doubt id even get it over my beer belly.  sigh.

Like the Che / Hales t shirt the subtley of the design is not giving anything away. Unlike Ben I don't think you go far enough. Those who you want to know will know just from the badge and i think it would be better if you took the club name off or at least put it on the back.

I have some lovely t shirts from the shop with nothing but the sword on, the beauty is knowing what it meands when others dont.

However a general word of warning, these days t shirt printing is a pretty cheap thing to do, most poeple don't not because they can't, but becuse they don't make money.

Haven't got time to do it myself, but would be cool to alter the above logo so the 3 bars actually look like 3 piers of the Thames barrier

i'm not really a slogan tee shirt man. i've found most of the tee shirt slogans and styles, charlton or not, to be pretty naf!

but like you, i do like the one you own, which has hales as " che " and i think there's another one which says something like " i saw leaburn score " i'd wear both of them.

i like your design style but not the slogan, i would prefer something more " witty " i do realise that, that, is difficult to do, as i imagine we all have different humour tastes

You'd have to do some extra special T-shirts for the CL clique! Maybe have them in a different colour?
  • The robes used at the CL clique initiation are I think coloured imperial purple. You could ask AFKA or Henry.
