Would still have to pay him.

....... we was close to signing on a couple of times near the end of Curbs / Dowie period

    Tsk, AFKA. Grammar.

"We" is a plural term, therefore "was" should be "were".
    Isn't that right, Curb_It ....?

Sorry, mate ..... just larking about.

Know someone who knew his agent and we was close to signing on a couple of times near the end of Curbs / Dowie period

The way I remember it from those days ........ Curbs had Gray on trial pre-season for a month, and was dead keen to sign him from Palarse - handily Gray was a free agent out of contract having refused to sign another.

At that time, even though Gray had been signed only a couple of years before (from Arsenal?), he was still under 24 - and our old chum Slimes held out for a 'young player development payment' or whatever it's called.

Charlton refused to pay that ...... and so the deal fell through.
  • if he is on a free id take him give him a contract until the end of the season would give us an option at left back and left mid
  • I really can`t see us making any more signings unless we get an injury to be honest. Losing Sam might force Parky`s hand but that apart I think we now have cover for anything other than a long term injury.
  • We should definitely be monitoring the market for a senior left sider at a good price, but Gray's is a classic stagnating career - much promise at the start but he's been going steadily downhill ever since.

I saw him play for us at Peterborough on 26 July 2003 when we won 2-1. He had played on trial at Leeds the night before.

Scored against us on Saturday and he impressed me when the Saddlers won at the Valley , out of contract in the summer and 32 in the close season.

Although it was felt he was not a Parky player , would Powell go for him ?

Can play LW and LB , if Reid does not renew his contract then we would need someone experienced in this position to help Harriott develop.

Always thought we'd give Ishmael a shot http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ishmel_Demontagnac

I'm sure if anyone can sort his 'tude problems, then its Chris Powell.
