Love a map and could stare at this for ages. A few devils in the detail:
A significant pocket of Dagenham fans in Palace territory, or is that brentford ?!
Large pocket of Arsenal fans in HIllingdon- in the far west, wondering why..
And Charlton's western boundary seems to run the length of the barrings road, Grove Park/ downham border, which seems accurate enough
  • Love maps as well - I would think that Scumwall should be represented more in Greenwich and Bexley (unfortunately).

"It´s a working progress and with feedback is going to
    change a lot."

I don't think the map is highly scientific!!

Arsenal have a strong SE London support that isn't shown, we have a stronger support in Greenwich in Bexley than shown, and as for West Ham, all that claret colour should be off the map & in Essex!

I find it strange that an area like Tottenham has such a well supported club. Also not sure if people in Fulham actually support Fulham, likewise Chelsea. It'll be interesting to see how the map changes.

Well I grew-up in the Ilford/Chigwell area and Spurs were the best supported club in the area back then.

Arsenal and West Ham had their fair share of support too but Chelsea fans were few and far between.

I'm guessing today, it's all Chelsea though.

Is it right that West Ham are supported as claimed south of the river. I know they have a shop in Bluewater, perhaps that's a sign of their support. I have never really encountered West Ham supporters who didn't come from north of the river?

I wouldn't have said where the map shows them, but there is definitely a fair amount in the Bromley area.
  • I used to live in Tottenham and on a sports stall (at a market in Walthamstow) asked about Charlton Mugs, the bloke said they used to have them but that Charlton were popular in the area and they were all sold out!

What this map doesn't make clear is how they arrive at decisions for each area - e.g is the area say for Greenwich designated Charlton because more than 50% of football supporters in the area are Addicks, or say if it shows a split between Charlton & Millwall, its at least 25% for both? You could have a scenario, and maybe Greenwich is an example where Charlton do amount to more than 50% but Millwall might be 35%.

What I am really trying to say is, are they operating under First Past The Post, AV, or Proportional Representation with a 25% franchise?

Not knowing how old you are... I would say a current representation would be Ilford as fairly West Ham, Chigwell is very very Spurs

I'd say the QPR fella hasn't given it as much thought as that!
  • Surprised that Grove Park/Downham are shown as Charlton strongholds, I would have thought these were very much Millwall areas. I'd have thought we had more support around Lewisham/Catford as well, at least traditionally.

No, your right, surely Southwark should be a 50/50 Millwall / Arsenal split?

Let's not move on to what Woolwich, Charlton & Plumstead would be!
  • It says no glory hunting which makes South London arsenal free!

There's Charlton graffiti in Woolwich high street Sparrow, all 3 of the areas you named are Charlton strongholds. If you get the inner city boroughs we get Bexley & Greenwich.

Loads of proper Arsenal from SE London, not glory hunting ones, although there are plenty of them too.

Perhaps I misinterpreted what Bexley Dan was angling at, or perhaps you have, I'm not sure.

i'm pretty sure the boundary of our Eastern front runs along barrings road on that map, with charlton to the east, mottingham, chislehurst and the green fields of Kent, and millwall to the right in downham .

I'm disagreeing with Bexley Dan, these are meant to be traditional areas. If arsenal had never had their success and had spent the majority of this history in the lower leagues there wouldn't be any South London arsenal fans, look at the area Leyton Orient have. It's all very complicated and you can never get proper map, still interesting mind.

But Arsenal are from Woolwich, you can't get much more traditional than Arsenal fans from around there!
  • But they left because they didn't have the fan base. Therefore most arsenal fans in South London are tossers. QED.

Not impressed...its missing a little dot of red 5cm south of watford for me! Surprised with the amount of Chelsea around that area too- most people are either arsenal, liverpool or man u
