    Such a shame. RIP.

    Personally, I've had so many people I know diagnosed with/fighting cancer recently, and one person close to me passed away last year from cancer. Truly awful way to go.

    Was genuinely shocked when i saw it on SSN last night, made me feel sick. 27 is far too young.

    The fact that he came back last year and actually played a few tournaments made me think that he had got threw the worst of it.

    Condolences to his wife, 10 month old daughter and all those connected to him.

    A friend of mine was diagnosed with cancer last week, it has already metasised into her lungs...

    Very sad indeed.

    On top of everything else he was actually a pretty decent player too, with possibly a big future in the game ahead of him before he was diagnosed. It took great courage for him to come back last year. Like WSS, I thought he had got through it and couldn't believe it when I saw it in the paper this morning. A sobering thought.

    This was going to be my first post of the morning.

    Very sad news, cancer is a horrible disease, i have seen what it can do to people, and its mainly good people who get it. My condolences go to his wife and baby, not to mention his parents.

    They are just those that have come to mind.

    I remember it well for a number of reasons. I'd just got on a train to Durham for a work course, sat down with my paper and from memory, the story was on one of the very early pages. I was in complete shock. I used to follow snooker almost religiously at the time and he was up there with Jimmy White for me. Literally stared at the page for the entire journey. Just couldn't take my eyes off of it and couldn't shift my mind away from it. My daughter was 6 months old at the time and it just knocked me for six. You just assume a 27 year old will pull through. You're indestructable at that age. Well so I thought.

    I'm absolutely convinced that was what pushed me over the edge. I was struggling mentally for a good few months before that but I broke down in my hotel room and didn't come out until 24hrs later and got the train straight back to London. I had a panic attack which lasted the entire train journey back. Got back home and was off work sick for about 8 weeks after that. I had a panic attack every time I tried to get on the train. It was only the help of a very close friend that got the train with me every day for almost 3 months that helped me through it. My wife at the time didn't understand and that was the catalyst for the breakdown of our relationship. My self confidence never really recovered for a good few years after that and have suffered from anxiety at times ever since.

    Will never forget Paul Hunter. Would have been a brilliant multiple World Champion, I have no doubts about that. Can still see his face and his blonde locks... RIP Paul.

    was a true character and a cracking player, would have still been about now with the likes of Higgins/ROS/ Williams, probably a couple of World titles too

    I must admit John the player that first come to mind was Ebdon. I knew there was something about Paul Hunter's hair so until I saw the photo I remembered Ebdon with his ponytail.

    I worked with his auntie when he was ill, it was a horrible time :-(
