I just ignore his posts.CafcSteve said:Ronnie Moore boasts on other forums about how he posts on here for wind-ups.
Someone I know that knew him from work says that he always used to say that he was a Millwall fan.
Just got to realise that the opposite to whatever he says is accurate.3 -
Flicking through this thread and my phone buzzes with a fotmob transfer notification. Could it be???
'Terry Taylor and Luke Berry are leaving Charlton Athletic'

I realise there is a big gap between the Championship and Leagues 1 and 2 but I am still hopeful that several of our talented youngsters may step up. Fullah and Gough among others.2

Or buy it a bridge to sit under.Garrymanilow said:
I mean, you're half right. I do always wonder why people engage with his posts because he posts them exclusively to get a reaction. And every time people react. Whether it's overtly nicking an online rumour and presenting at as insider knowledge, repeatedly putting down an academy player or deliberately praising a player in a game where he obviously had a poor one it's all done for attention. If people don't like it the best thing is to just not react. If he didn't get likes, lols and replies he wouldn't post. A lot of people can't help themselves or actually enjoy having someone there to get annoyed by. Ultimately though he's a troll who comes on here only to annoy other posters so I don't think he needs people running on here to defend him, if your only purpose is to irritate then you're not the victim of bullying when people call you out on it. Personally I skip every post and would prefer if he just melted off but it is absolutely ok to take the piss out of a troll.southamptonaddick said:I don't comment on Ronnie Moore's posts but if I agree I will like them. If I disagree I ignore them.
This is an open forum so, as long as it's not offensive, people can write what they like. Agree, disagree, think it's a load of crap, that's personal taste, but I do think, to some people, they feel it's ok to take the piss out of him.
I'm sure if admin felt he overstepped they would ban him.
That's my view feel free to agree or disagree or think it's a load of crap.1 -
Surely once you’ve signed for another club, your old one stops paying you?killerandflash said:

I think we’re still way too early to be expecting much to happen. Players are still away or just returning from holidays and so are managers and coaches. Players are under contract until 30th June I think so even those released or out of contract will be getting paid until then. Why sign someone and pay them 10k per week before you need to even if negotiating is taking place. Not saying we might not see something happen but I think the bulk of the transfers will take place in July earliest.Charlton43 said:Surely there will be some movement next week
I agree that it's still very early, but a few transfers have happened and been announced already, even if wages aren't paid by the new club until the 1st July. Andy Robertson being the most notable.0 -
Dont know why that would be the case. If i sign a contract for a new job, and the current employer makes me work my notice period when i resign, i still get paid6

If you sign someone for a transfer fee before the window opens you start paying them the day the transfer window opens when they can first move to your club.AddicksAddict said:

I dont post on any other forum … plus the person your talking I believe says he knows he from a pub (doubt he worked in Barclays where I spent over 22 years )fact I never been to a pub before games mainly due to always travelling to football with a full car ie family and never met this person in question .. so again your information is totally 100% incorrect I have been going to Charlton since 1960,s .. my grandad laid the original drainage at the Valley , first words I spoke was Charlton Athletic , two relatives have had their ashes scattered in the pitch when that was allowed my cousin supplied and played the records at the valley for many many years and knows Richard Murray and Varney very well … I was there the famous Thursday night at the old valley club when the club was saved and of course the wet Sunday morning to help clear the valley .. season ticket holder for as long as I care to remember .. got to know Ronnie Moore and Nicky Johns very well and more recently through my involvement with grass roots football for over 12 years with the Charlton goalkeeper coaches at sparrows lane . … my wife was even a Charlton fan before I met her as her great grandad played for Charlton ..not sure why I have to explain all this cause one person spreading lies .. but there no one more a Charlton fan then me and my family I find these untruths an insult to my family .especially my parents who are longer now with after we had a lost last yearCafcSteve said:Ronnie Moore boasts on other forums about how he posts on here for wind-ups.

The team needs to grow incrementally over three or four seasons. Obviously the crucial factor is remaining in the division first and foremost but I’d rather acquire two or three players each window that demonstrably improve us and do the same each window until the squad is ready and able for a push for the playoffs. Having a churn of eight or more players every summer makes slowly strengthening much more difficult. I realise that we might not yet be in a position to implement the above but in my humble opinion it’s what we must aim for. Yes loans are important but they should be the cherry on the cake not the cake. We’re bang in the middle of a transition from a league one squad to a Championship squad. What we do this summer is so important.13

Would like to just see two quality new midfielders and a couple of decent wingbacks, either bought or loaned and then go again with what we've got unless TC, Leaburn or Godden go? Can't see a wholesale turnover of players?1 -
Ronnie Moore might well post things that are regarded as rubbish, I certainly post rubbish as well, and I suspect so does everybody else.
I believe his post above about his Charlton Athletic supporting background, and it is a tale not dissimilar to the experience of many Charlton Athletic supporters.
I suppose free speech maybe justifies the bullying and pile-on that Ronnie gets from some people, but by the same token free speech justifies Ronnie’s posts.
One thing I have noticed about Ronnie's posts is that he never personalises or attacks individuals on Charlton Life, yet he is attacked personally.
I could sense a kind of reluctance in the long post Ronnie has made about his relationship with the club, it’s as if it was forced out of him in order to establish his credibility as a fan, something that is not forced out of the rest of us who are free to disclose stuff as and when we want, or when it feels appropriate.24 -
It’ll be incredibly tough this window. The players we target will be the targets of others and in many cases those teams based on reports and speculation will have a bigger budget than we do. Spreading our available money between fees and frees will be a tough balancing act. I often see that people think we can do things differently but that’s as far as I’m concerned unrealistic. Every club will be doing exactly what we are doing and often with better resources. I’m hopeful we’ll get it right but it’s definitely going to be very tough.1

Anyway...just trying to change the current flow of the thread, how's things going back on the on the rumours front, pretty quiet i should think until July(ish)...0

Honestly, I post this every time but it shocks me that his silliness takes pelters but Golfie gets away with being an utterly vile drain on everyone and a troll to boot. I guess it’s because Ronnie is faceless - it’s much easier when someone clearly has needs and you won’t ever meet them than to call out someone who you might see at a game.jose said:Ronnie Moore might well post things that are regarded as rubbish, I certainly post rubbish as well, and I suspect so does everybody else.
