Should have done so much better. Didn’t even give them a game.

This side is not intelligent enough to play forward.

The amount of times Bell gets the ball and instead of pushing or passing forward he cuts backwards and switches the ball across the back four is ridiculous.
It disrupts the whole flow and leaves us vulnerable when the inevitable central pump forward gets launched from the centre back and 99% of the time ends up back down our throats.
Yeah, but there's no movement in front of Bell - static, ballwatching from his team mates.
What is he supposed to do with no options ??

Looked the players were on the beach from the start.

We weren’t on the front foot and didn’t press a keeper who apparently although a good shot stopper, doesn’t like being pressed.
    As someone else said, passive.

Don’t think we deserved much more from that especially when you can’t score.

Usual Jonesball shyte for the first hour then like a pub league dust up for the last 20 mins where it could have been 5-5.  Referee very fussy.  We have scored one goal or less in 16 home games.

What has JRC got to do to get a game….NJ tactics are pissing me off…fucking go for it at home and play someone who passes the ball forward….

3rd from bottom gained a point on us, one point. Six games to go. We'll be fine.
Was it 5 points clear with 5 to go in 19-20 season and we went down ! Play like this and it could happen…this was a game we needed to win…Mannion needs to take a lot of blame for this defeat…that was poor goalkeeping there
Lose Monday and the others pick up points and it’s 5 points clear with 5 games to go all over again.

What a rubbish performance and result. With the way we play football and the fact they had no fit CBs, I thought that was a banker. But we're Charlton and that would be too simple of a story.

Cov & Doch - that was about as bad it gets for two midfield performances. Why do we need to play both at them at home? Let alone the pair of them for 75 mins. I can't watch much more of this midfield, it's painful.

We had chances but most of our home games seem to go the same way. We huff and puff in the last fifteen minutes but can't find the goal. How TC cannot hit the target from there...  And Godden has to score. But it seems like same old, same old.

And yet I have to give massive credit to NJ, because anyone can see how poor this team is, and yet we are still looking likely to stay up.

Can we get Coady back in please?
Coady and Dykes came in & I believe their experience & quality has been vital, wtf is coady now on the bench ?
  • We lacked real conviction with 3 decent chances in the second half - Godden, Campbell and Costello - on another day one of those go in. Maybe on another day Bristol take their even better chances and score 4.

Cheap free kick given away for their winner. No cheap free kick, no goal.

But that was a poor performance from us, I'm unimpressed with that.

I've seen pedestrian crossing move more than our players. We truly have a lethargic bunch of players at times.

It looked like a training game for the large part. No urgency or press. City had absolutely nothing to play for, other than to impress the new manager, who is only staying for 7 games.

What a gutless, lack of effort performance.

Yes, we had a go for the last 10 - 15 minutes but what a load of crap we play for the large part of this season.

We've been lucky this year to have some real crap in the league, and also some hefty points deductions. Next season (if we stay up, which I think we will) I think we need to replace the front 6-7 players. Apart from the back line, if say cheerio to anyone in front of them, possibly even behind them!

The club needs to decide what it's strategy is to achieve a safe spot again next season, because rinse and repeat will be a massive gamble.

Jones talking about finishing as high as possible, what a joke. Need to look over our shoulders first.

    50/1 to go down.

£250 on that and you'd get a nice sum of money to dull the sorrows of us in league one and the scum at the top table.

Going against the grain it seems from the first page of posts........

I thought it was an entertaining game, especially the last 15 mins when it was end to end. Unlucky not to come away with a point & if we played every game like we did the last 15 mins then we'd be safe from relegation by now. Unfortunately we don't as we start games on the back foot playing with wingbacks who dont get forward. We might actually win a game if we tried to score first.

Hopefully we will get the necessary 3 or 4 more points to get us to safety. The teams below us picked up points but the ones below the red line didnt do enough damage to make us feel like its squeaky bottom time  (but plenty of time yet). Need to pick up a few more points before we play Sheff Wed because we all know that wont be the 3 points everyone thinks it will be.

You were happy to post "MILLLLLL" when they were playing Portsmouth though, so I think you'll be okay.

Let’s be honest… we didn’t deserve to win.
Should’ve been down by two or three at half, mind you, because whatever that first‑half “formation” was, it looked like someone had shaken a Subbuteo box and said “yeah, that’ll do.”

All at sea. All over the place. Shape? Didn’t see it. Couldn’t find it. Probably still missing.

Didn’t even have this one pencilled in as one of the two wins we need to limp over the line this season anyway.

For Watford: Dykes and Godden up top, no messing. And Coady back in to stop the midfield looking like a revolving door at a shopping centre.

It’s going to be a nervy end to the season… but when isn’t it with us.

One of the weirdest things I’ve seen. Palace fan, failed England manager, what possible reason do they have to applaud him??

He's old and managed in Sweden back when you were allowed to smoke in pubs
  • Watched on TV.

First 20 minutes we were horrific, but other than that a decent game, especially later stages of 2nd half.

Lloyd Jones - barely put a foot wrong all
season, but certainly not his best performance today.

    Godden’s shot - anywhere else and that’s a goal.

Campbell’s shot - keep the ball
down and that’s in the net.

Mannion - a mistake, but with the ball bobbling and spinning it wasn’t a howler.

Didn’t deserve to lose that today.

Now let’s get something at Watford.

    Pissed off after watching that.

Made them look like prime Barcelona for the first 15 minutes.

Sunday league goalkeeping for their second.

    Ref was appalling.

    Should’ve had an equaliser.

Nathan Jones says that #cafc will make addressing their attacking deficiencies a major priority in the summer transfer window.

NJ says about 70 per cent of work done in training is on the offensive side.

Midfield was awful. Bristol City midfielders and defenders able to run 20 yards with the ball consistently and Carey refused to help Dykes press. Whenever we did manage to win the ball high up it was good, just needed to do it more often and earlier

    And another thing.

Only 5 times in 40 games have we scored more than once.

If you're only scoring 1 goal per game you aren't going to be winning many football matches, especially if you are prone to conceding first.

So many times this season we've been chasing games & hoping for a last minute equaliser. Its all same old same old. How many times have we been comfortable with 15 mins to go. Not expecting to be winning 3 or 4 nil, but 2 nil up & controlling a game isnt too much to ask once in a while.

    Gah.

The other thing I have noticed is other teams seem to always pick up the loose ‘second ball in midfield…maybe it’s because our mids are defensive oriented and not on the front foot.
Quite agree, our players seem to hesitate before re-acting a split second too late.

Not just in midfield either ...... for the 2nd City goal, their scorer reacted much quicker to Mannion's fumble, while Coventry was still ballwatching.

With their keeper's saves, where were our players following up?

Thing is, can we really trust him on that? Every striker other than the youth products were his signings...and let's not forget the absolute disaster of Gassan Ahadme...

Because we have Phil Chapple through the door now, who can do some proper scouting for us?
Whats the alternative if we dont trust him, are we back to wanting him out, until he makes those statements look stupid for a third time?
