MATCH THREAD : Charlton Athletic V Bristol City : Good Friday 3rd April 2026 : KO 15:00
Good afternoon everyone…
Welcome back after what seems like an age due to the International break, but is just 13 days since the Norwich Game, and today we are at The Valley again with yet another chance to reach the magic 50+ point mark when Bristol City roll up having lost 4 of their last 6 matches, surely we can get there today, can't we…🤷♂️… however, The Robins appointed Roy Hodgson as Interim Head Coach last week following the dismissal of Gerhard Struber, surely they could have waited another week…
TEAM NEWS…Luke Berry, Harvey Knibbs and Matty Godden are all nearing returns, so maybe bench today…Reece Burke, Collins Sichenje and Josh Edwards remain sidelined. The visitors will be without Rob Atkinson, Rob Dickie, Luke McNally, George Tanner and Joe Williams.
HEAD-TO-HEAD…We've met on 64 previous occasions winning 32, the Robins 19 and the remaining 13 clashes resulting in draws, our last meeting came at Ashton Gate in August 2025 when the spoils were shared in a goalless draw.
Ben Toner will be the man in the middle today…
TEAM…Charlie Kelman returns to the starting line-up for this afternoon’s game against Bristol City at The Valley (KO 3pm BST).
The striker replaces Tyreece Campbell, who is on the bench after returning from international duty with Jamaica, while Harvey Knibbs and Matty Godden are both back in the matchday squad following injuries.
Kayne Ramsay, Lloyd Jones and Amari’i Bell start in a back three in front of Will Mannion.
Harry Clarke and Luke Chambers will operate as wing-backs with Conor Coventry, Sonny Carey and captain Greg Docherty making up a midfield three behind Lyndon Dykes and Kelman.
Campbell, Knibbs and Godden are joined on the bench by Thomas Kaminski, Macaulay Gillesphey, Conor Coady, Joe Rankin-Costello, Ibrahim Fullah and Jayden Fevrier.
Meanwhile, Miles Leaburn misses out with an ankle injury.
Charlton: Mannion; Ramsay, Jones, Bell; Clarke, Coventry, Carey, Docherty (c), Chambers; Dykes, Kelman
Subs: Kaminski, Gillesphey, Coady, Rankin-Costello, Fullah, Knibbs, Fevrier, Campbell, Godden

Good to see Knibbs and Godden back, didnt think we'd see Harvey again2
-
Roy wont know what's hit him when the subs come on & we start attacking. ..😂4
-
Hope Harvey and Matty have got enough minutes in them to make an impact off the bench and give others a rest late in the game.0
-
I'm liking that line-up, and the back-up from the bench is very strong, can see a convincing result coming...🤞2
-
Hoping to see TC and Fullah from the bench to play with a bit of freedom. Maybe either side of a striker.0

ABM = Anyone but Millwall! Come on Charlton cheer up our afternoon please.

Millwall in their last two games have shown why having a dodgy first half doesnt necessarily matter0

Good bench that. Knibbs to me is better as a Chuks style chaos in the box player, than as a direct replacement for Carey's running and movement.3

Afternoon folks

The memory of singing this in the covered end after his goal against Wycombe, 2nd leg, will live long in the memory.eastterrace6168 said:GODDEN AGAIN OLE OLE...welcome back to the squad...🙌🙌4 -
On twitter City fans appear to hate Twine.
A weird one.3 -

I like that line up a lot, although my views haven't always tended to be a good predictor of Charlton's performance (starting to think Jones might know about football than I do).
Would love to see the Kelman-Dykes partnership get going and Kelman bag a goal or two. Almost as much as I'd love a late goal from Godden or Knibbs (or both!).
3-0 Charlton and my weekly 20/1 bet on Clarke to score finally comes in.1 -
Can’t believe I’m actually here! I’ll have to shut my eyes so I’ll just have it on audio as usual.9

They'll probably have a better stab at the Crossbar Challenge ...2
