Just to give a view on Gavin Carter, I was being a mouthy fucker on twitter (shock horror) and he direct messaged me explaining some of their rationale around the scarf fiasco and what felt like a polite "is there any chance you can turn it in" message.

Obviously not much has changed, and I didn't, but, I'll always slander people who I think are due it. That said, I don't think he's a bad bloke, he comes across sound, and there are bigger problems than him.

I don't think he has much influence compared to some other players at the table, but I don't get the impression at all that he's a toad etc like how I feel about a lot of people that have been associated with the club.
  • At Bromley I thought he was a fan and a decent chap who seems to have left England some years ago and probably had rose tinted glasses about memories of Charlton.

Carter nothing more than another chancer in my opinion. We need a total clear out.
Genuinely fascinated by opinions like this, what are you basing that on?
Just how I feel about it tbh mate. Just looks to me to be another bloke benefitting from a ludicrously complicated ownership structure that is offering absolutely nothing positive to the club currently. Couple of interviews have got people on side, but actions speak louder than words, and there's been very little done. Keep hearing he's a fan, but didn't the last rogue mob have a 'fan' in their ranks too?

I could be wrong of course. Basing it off my gut feel, nothing more. Said my opinion to be sure I wasn't trying to pass it off as anything more than just that, my opinion.
    How does he benefit?

A billionaire will earn Millions in interest alone per year.   What they are putting into Charlton won't make a dent.

Gavin Carter isn't a billionaire but no doubt he was very gullible in buying into the story the gang of four sold him!

What's the difference between a non-exec chairman and a shopping trolley?
The shopping trolley has a mind of its own but you can get more food in a non-exec chairman.

Interesting to see some of the opinions from just over a year ago. Not a dig at anyone in particular, just very enlightening I think to see just how much has changed and perhaps how much we didn't know or blamed on the wrong people. And I do include myself as one of those who was pointing fingers in the wrong direction somewhat

Gates up, retail up, hospitality up which is all good and yes you'd expect that after promotion.  I wonder if we'll see hard figures as in a previous directors brief (hopefully not missing out a financial year.

Steady progress and no grand promises.  I always prefer under promise, over deliver to the alternative.

"progressive" signings in the window doesn't tell us much so as ever WIOTOS.

Reminds me of when Mary Whitehouse (yes I'm that old) back in the 70s campaigned to stop an Andy Warhol documentary being aired. When asked had she seen it she replied "No - I'm not watching that filth". Not surprisingly it had a huge audience when it was aired but disappointment for this spotty faced teenager when the only thing vaguely pornographic was a 3 second shot of a bare breast.

I'm not too worried about GC using the term "progressive "signings. I would expect probably more loans that we think we can either get next season on a permanent or for a full season as opposed to more Hernandez and Roussillon types. Think the budget is probably there to do a couple of permanent signings if the right player became available.

But you still wore out the video so it had as many stretch lines on it as the Blockbuster copy of Crocodile Dundee and the g-string shot

    Good interview.

I still think a year is too long to be waiting for a CEO role to be filled but I get that circumstances can sometimes be beyond the club's control.

Some will read that and not like talk of KPIs and management speak. While there are not grand statements or promises I want sensible, considered, maybe even slightly dry, management stuff from management.

Having the 7th to 12th largest wage bill in time doesn't make a great slogan but it is sensible and achievable.
Exactly, if in 3 years time we are finishing top half and flirting with the play offs then that’s good progress

I don’t understand that, 7th to 12th largest wage bill in time? Could someone expand / clarify please?

The aim over the next few years is to grow the wage bill to be between the 7th and 12th largest in the division, we’re currently 22nd/23rd
