I'll excuse Carey from criticism though, because he struck the ball well and their keeper pulled of one helluva save. Berry could have swept the ball into the net withought taking that heavy touch. Clarke... aaagh! And Tupac had a pretty simple header.
Hopefully they'll learn from the improved performance though.

Seen people complain that Schindje got done down the right (he did), that Mannion should have done better (maybe, but I disagree) but the closing down/challenging on the edge of the box by Berry and another was extremely poor._uptheaddicks said:Think Berry is getting off very lightly with his 'defending' for Rathbones goal. That was a fantastic effort from Miles, a good first-time shot on a tight angle from a driven cross. He had to put some elevation on the strike to get it past the defender and make it more difficult for the keeper to stop it.
I put no blame on Miles for that attempt; if it goes in it's a speccy, if it doesn't it's understandable because it's so difficult.

Miles did superbly well to get across the defender.
If he'd managed to score I think it would have ranked as one of his best goals for the club so totally agree with Briston Addick6 -
Like others, should have been 2 or 3 up first half. But a much better footballing performance and we were very unlucky not to get a point at least.One thing - Kelman came on at 74 mins and as far as I could tell touched the ball twice. Once in his own half and once a lay off just outside the box. He just is never in games and here he should have put everything into trying to make a difference in a short burst. Others had loads more ball in that time. Dykes and Leaburn seem to put in much more than he does. He may be a better technical forward but he needs to start doing stuff.6

I think it's tough for Kelman, he rarely starts 2 games in a row so doesn't really get a chance to play himself into form, agree he's frustrating though and looks like he's not putting in the same energy levels our other forwards do7

All those perfect beings piling on one of our players for taking a split second decision not to hit the ball first time. Boy if only we had all them playing for us. We'd clean up!~1

Thought the game was good, but had a very rough day mentally, when I probably should have just stayed at home with my family grieving. Ill try again in a few weeks.

God knows what formation we were playing for final 15/20, wish we had a few more players willing to take a pop though and not keep floating in crosses.1

So we are gonna need to step up and win 3 or dig in and convert a couple of defeats to draws.
When you park emotion and your natural pessimism / optimism (delete as appropriate) it’s gonna be bloody tight and I still maintain we are going to need to improve to stay up.
We have 9 points from our last 7 games, 12 from our last 10 and 14 from our last 12.
We need 9 from 11 to get to 50. If we have another five game losing streak we’re in big trouble. If we continue at the pace we’ve been going since Christmas we’ll land in the 52-55 range and be fine.5 -

People keep saying that they are not getting Service from midfield - yesterday proved that even when they do they still don't score.
Miles had a half chance at the near post which would have been an outrageous finish. TC (who is a hybrid striker/winger anyway and so I'd say in a different category that isn't just about finishing) had a half chance where he didn't connect but might have been blocked anyway plus a header he should absolutely have scored but again he's not an aerial player.
The other two clear cut chances fell to our RWB and CM. Think it was just bad luck who got into the positions yesterday and what they did with it - if it's TC crossing for Dykes to head instead of vice versa we score, if it's anyone but Clarke we score, if its Carey or a striker instead of Berry I think we score.4 -

It was true on Saturday, but in most recent games we've not been on top, but have managed to nick a goal. We've not been a team that creates loads of chances, but misses them, we're a team which creates relatively little, but relies on clean sheets to get wins. Hence 9 of our 10 wins have been "clean sheet wins".

None of our forwards besides Godden have the footballing IQ to have good quality movement off the ball and ideal positioning to receive those chances.PeaksAndValleys said:

Yeah I agree to an extent but a lot of that movement comes not just from IQ but from relationships and experience working together. No one seems to get any kind of run in the side to forge those and although he's not had huge game time, Godden hasn't been able to get a goal, or even really a decent chance that I can remember, which I put down partly to that relationship point and partly to how we set up, which I just think favours a box crashing 10 to score rather than forwards a lot of the time.Crispywood said:

Get the impression I'm increasingly in a minority on here but I also think that's harsh on Kelman. The goals he's scored for us haven't been spoonfed, the Oxford one springs to mind which he created out of nothing. I think he flourishes in a system where he gets decent service, which he got last year and scored all kinds of goals based on clever movement in the box and being in the right place at the right time, as well as being very clinical.3 -
