It’s a tough debate on who starts up top, Leaburn and Dykes worked at Leicester and again that combination was dangerous at Southampton. But it didn’t work at all against Portsmouth, but was this because Leaburn wasn’t quite fully fit to start that game?

TC playing there is best for our defensive shape, he means we can defend in a 5-4-1 if needed like on Saturday, and he is a good outlet to get us up the pitch. But he’s also more threatening coming on from the bench so it’s a tough call whether we want to be more defensively solid with him starting, or more threatening later on with him from the bench

Kelman just looks low on confidence, maybe backing him with a start would help that but I think I’d go with Leaburn as he just looks way more likely to impact the game at the moment than Kelman does

It seems Dykes and Leaburn can work as long as we don’t just pump it up to them both, it works better I think when we play to Leaburn’s feet, but that’s down to how calm the midfielders are on the ball. Neither react overly well when having to receive the knock on.

I feel more nervous about this one than I did about Southampton or Wrexham at the weekend. I feel like I did last week at home to Portsmouth. The cliche....if we can't win then don't lose. Would love a 1-0 win. Don't care who scores but woul like Miles to get on the score sheet
  • Just lumped on the ginger genius to score anytime, PP have shorter odds for Berry and Godden!!
  • I would set up the game exactlly as we did against Southampton, with the possible switch of Clarke for Collins, moving Ramsay back to the back three. Set up for the draw, then hopefully nick a goal on the break. It is not the time to go gungho for a win, too many games left in the season

It’s a tricky one as I thought Ramsay looked as comfortable as he has for a while Saturday, maybe felt less pressure with Sichenje behind him. So with this in mind it may be him that gets replaced by Clarke if NJ decided to change things . We should see more of the ball although I think we will still sit in as usual. Somehow need to get some more deliberate end product from TC when he carries the ball upfield. My concern is the Baggies will eventually get a result😬

There are 13 games left to be played and, as we've seen in the last week with Portsmouth and Blackburn, fortunes can change quickly, with a couple of wins putting a very different complexion on a team's prospects. All that said, there is tremendous pressure on West Brom to win this game if they are going to make up the 6 point gap on us and keep themselves out of the bottom three. For us, it's certainly a 'must not lose' and, whilst a win would be huge, a point will keep us nicely on track.

I suspect that Erik Ramsey will be gone if West Brom either lose against us or fail to pick up a win tomorrow or against Oxford on Saturday. There definitely seems to be a smell of panic around the Hawthorns.

As ever, the first goal will be vital, especially with a home crowd who may well turn on their side if they go behind.

Subject to Collins' fitness, I suspect that Nathan will keep the same side, although at least we have some alternative selection options and players off the bench who can hopefully impact the game.

    Another ‘Six Pointer’!

    This.

We might have 2 home games coming up but from the latest StatBank just posted after the Saints match Wrexham & Brum are the inform teams.

Much easier to get 3 pints tomorrow night than from our next 2 matches. Just hope to God we dont sit back & do a low block but actually go out to win the game. I believe that have only scored 1 goal in their last 5 matches. Score first & we wont lose.

Another massive 6 pointer !! After last Tuesday I can’t see NJ allowing the players to slack off but this is Charlton and we all know what happens in games we should win

2-2 draw and that will be fine

If you watch it down the pub you are correct.........
  • In all seriousness I agree with you Golfie but I just cannot see NJ going all out for the win. Same again I suspect, hope to snatch a goal and hold on?

Just have a funny feeling the 3 points will be coming back to SE7 with a 0-2 win. Carey & Leaburn. UTA.

What if we draw it and then beat Wrexham? It’s not a must win. You could maybe say it’s a must not lose but even if we did lose we will still be 3 points ahead of West Brom and probably 7 clear of Leicester

For saying we must beat a team that we are in a direct relegation fight in. You must not read a lot then

Given our form since November that is not enough. We have to beat the teams around us that’s not controversial in anyway it’s just a fact

Not exactly likely based on our form since November

The 'must win' thing has been put to bed - there's little logic in which games we win, lose or draw so anybody banging on about that still is on a wind up. We're a team who were smashed at home by pompey and beat ipswich 3-0 away! If we let a goal in early tomorrow, i think we could take a pasting. If we hold out til half time we could easily win it. We are competing, that's the main thing and i think we are genuinely in with a chance of winning any game we play - the reverse is also true but overall we shoul;d grind enough points to stay up.

You mean like when we beat Stoke two weeks ago? Or Leicester just before that?

    Interesting argument. Perhaps you're all relying on the league table as some kind of fixed reality when in fact it's just a social construct being misinterpreted. What we actually need to be concerned with is getting a better result at West brom than other (current) relegation rivals;

So, Oxford and blacburn both lost there.
    Portsmouth and Leicester drew.

So it would be a massive 3 points if we got them. And it's almost a free hit as no-one else got more than a point there anyway. Feels better looking at it more objectively doesn't it.

It's such a big game for us, so I will channel the wise words of @happyvalley ....

    Comfortable away win 0-4

All the best for your procedure tomorrow, FA.

I was stunned when WBA brought this bloke in as their coach, absolutely ridiculous to bring in a rookie manager at this level of the game, especially after what happened with Ryan Mason!

This is basically one of the biggest leagues in Europe, you are dealing with some very well paid and experienced players and if you don't have their respect then you are going to be bang in trouble.

We all saw that with poor Will Still at Saints and we had the same experience with the succession of continental shite-bags that Duchatelet brought in, if you don't have the respect of the dressing room then you are done for.

With the best will in the world, what credibility does this bloke have as a manager with the likes of Krystan Bielek and the senior WBA players?

Having said all that they will probably beat us 3-0 now!
