Enjoyed that despite struggling down there with a cold, and Southampton never really inspires me as a city never found much of note pubs-wise

    Bell is brilliant
    Jones superb as usual

Felt like we had them under control for pretty much the entire game despite not touching the ball, didn't really feel they were going to unlock us - until stoppage time when they actually played with urgency and we were clinging on for dear life. I would love to see us attack a team like that for a sustained 10 minute period

Loved Leaburn's contribution, what a player he's been last few months despite no goals

good away turnout, great view from the corner and enjoyed being able to see our owns fans sweeping around the corner, don't really get the moaning about "30 quid to be in the corner", wouldn't have particularly chosen to be anywhere else to be honest and was perfect for Carey's knee slide

    Felt like a huge point.

don't need to win but please just don't lose to WBA

Jones at the back and Carey with his goals will be the reason we stay up if we can  reach 53 points or so.

I have sometimes felt like the lone voice in wanting Sonny to shoot when he comes within range
as we have so many forwards who can't score.
Even when he couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo recently in the 0-0 at the Valley I would've been gutted if he started to look for a pass instead of shooting on sight. Obviously pass if a college has a one on one but that hardly ever happens. Carey has taken some good set pieces and corners that we have failed to capitalize on.

I didn't see the game today and got home to see the score at 5pm. I have seen short highlights on ITV 4 and we rode our luck as the Saints could've been 3 up like Pompey were on Tuesday.

It will be a scrap to the end of the season and if Leicester get their 6 points back they are 1 behind CAFC.

Good point and Nathan must pick a team to play on the front foot from the 1st whistle against WBA because we just can't afford another non show that happened against Pompey in the 1st half.
  • What is the Collins song please? Couldn't hear it on tv.
    He looked good btw

One down side to today, I feel the need to mention, was the fella behind me in the 1st 10mins managed to cover every genre of abuse from doing things to Brees mum, racism, homophobic comments, need I go on , obviously lots of kids around, so I turned around and had a word saying it was far too much and not on,because quite honestly it was fucking filth, it didn’t go down well, he told me it’s football, anyway we had a few more words and he disappeared for the 2nd half and his gobby  mates shut up for the rest of the game. Just thought I’d mention as in a discussion the other day I got a bit of sarcasm because I’d said I hadn’t experienced at the valley, I still haven’t, but feel it remiss of me to not mention it when I do.
A good proportion of Charlton fans at away games are so pissed and drugged up they don't know what stadium their in let alone the town. They spend the whole game slagging the players, the opposition fans and even their own.  When there not staggering to find their seats they just stand on the concourse getting more pissed.

No idea why they go, but when the allocation is restricted they are denying a genuine fan who wants to see the game and support their team.

So, Mrs TT is driving now, so i can catch up on the comments.

Travelling up from Devon, the A303 was blocked by an overturned lorry. The alternative route saw the A35 partially blocked by flooding and the A31 partially blocked by a broken down lorry. This curtailed or prematch merriment by an hour.

The team set up very defensively. Frustrating for Southampton and all the fans watching, but understandably given the last match.

The fans were behind the team from the start, and even kept going after we went a goal down and feared the worst. I need to keep Mrs TT safe after Carey scored.

We forgot which multistory carpark we had parked in and were hunting around for ages in the wrong one. Old age can do that to you, but I remember five of us hunting for our car in the pleasant residential roads around Gillingham in the 1980s, so age is no excuse.

Anyway, we are still well over an hour from home, as we decided to stop at the American diner at Spartkford, near the Haynes Museum.

If you're ever this way, check it out, we'll worth stopping there.

    A great day out.
Thumbs up on the diner.  In-laws live in Devon so regularly done A303/A30 over the last 25 years and stopped there a few times for breakfast but never got round to doing Haynes museum

Would have lost another house backing Soton to win but the transformation in performance was as contrastingly good as the Pompey home game was bad from the previous match.
Fairplay to our boys for turning it around .
Really enjoyed today’s trip (not enough to want to go to WBA, the mrs has won the short straw for that to take petrol head ) good away day , plenty of old faces there, no not you Fanny you’re a youngster !!
Also bumped in to @Mosscat who I hadn’t seen since that crazy trip to protest in Belgium , what year was that we couldn’t work it out?
Great atmosphere from the away fans and the support was there even when losing .
Shit traffic getting away from there but the buzz of a point made the journey a lot easier but the highlight was Fanny’s chocolate fingers , thank you and how on earth could you remember petrol heads real name when I even struggle , amazing memory !
  • Great result and tone setter for a big week. If we can go undefeated this week, ideally getting 1 win from the next 2, it will put us in a fantastic position

    You and they are Southampton
    That makes no sense.

Besides, what relevance has beating Man City or getting to a semi-final got to today’s match? NJ is so full of shit.
He’s referencing his time as manager at Southampton where he beat Man City and got them to the Carabao semi as a dig at them.

It is a weird one but it’s wound up all the right people and he knows it.
I see. I still think he's a knob though. I can't stand people who like to wind people up. There are some like that on CL sometimes. They just make themselves unlikeable. What's the point?

Did for 65 mins until he had enough....heard the Carey goal go in on the walk back to the car 😂 Wasn't about that today. Got him involved and passed on the Charlton bug.

Such a great thread to read! Only followed on the stream but almost feel like I was there from all the collective away day experiences - the joys of a sweet or chocolate finger from @Fanny Fanackapan to the lows of the shite that @Sword65pf had to endure.
We were so resilient today, with our BFK at the heart of it. I love him already. Lloydy was his usual brilliant self - though he did get beaten for the header for the goal. Difficult one mind you. Bell and Ramsay unsung heroes. Kaminski didn’t flap too much either and showed the confidence of experience which is probably why he keeps his place.
Docherty did what Doc does. Coady is kind of anonymous in a really important way 🤔
Basically a great team performance. I’d even say let’s not be too harsh on Kelman- it was backs to the wall and he dropped deep too.
And well done NJ for some good wind ups. Boy does he like to hold a grudge.

    On to Tuesday.

Still think this is an absurd header. Gave Lloyd Jones and Kaminski absolutely no chance to do anything about it.

It's weird, there seems to be no power behind it, it just loops beautifully off his head into the top corner.

Me and my wife decided to move to Southampton last year after she got a job at the Winchester Science Centre. We found that Southampton was a good place to commute and more vibrant and much cheaper than Winchester.

We decided to pull the trigger and start the life in May, getting offers on our place in late July. I looked forward to seeing the Charlton fixtures and hoped that the Southampton away game would be late on the year.

Yay February, we will definitely be moved by then.

Due to the incompetence of solicitors, we are due to complete next week but maybe next month. To say I'm at the end of my tether is an understatement.

This is long way to say I am slightly glad we drew as I didn't get to bloody go, though I can never truly want us to lose!

It was a very nice cross as well to be fair, he didn't have to break his stride change his footing, he could just redirect it, which he did expertly.

I was unable to stay up for the game, and woke to the expectation of a defeat, so I'm well pleased with that result!

After watching the 12 mins of highlights, we were very much backs to the wall for most of that, and we rode our luck a little, but then so did Southampton,

I thought we'd score a second, with Dykes and Jones, i think it was, scrambling the ball from 3 yards out but it rolled the wrong side of the post.
The highlights didn't show anything of Kelmans play.

NJ's comments to their reporters post match..... He's a character!  He does have some traits that are not becoming of a public figure.

Very pleased the away end had a great day out, and didn't witness a flogging most of us predicted.

BIG game Tuesday, If we win that, It'll really put some daylight between us and 22nd spot. I think that WBA are the ones destined for the last relegation position, if Leicester only remain with the 6 point reduction.

Watched with mate in Southampton end, he said our support was as good as any away fans they’ve had there this season. Felt so proud of our team and fans today
Did our support give it back re NJ at the end of the game after our hard fought point ? (What a shame we couldn't have grabbed a winner  :#)
Big time. ..in you head, in your head.

In fact at the start too.
NJ actually got far less stick from the Soton fans than I was expecting.
Actually thought they were poor full stop. Could really push there team on as on the verge of playoffs but were silent!

Great battling result which was stark in comparison to Pompey surrender.  It amazes me that Pompey are the only team to do the double over us this season (so far) out of 10 teams.

I don't think you can read everything into XG but the fact the numbers were so close reflected that we had some decent chances and a draw was a likely result. We saw at the Valley that their strength is exploiting defensive gaps and they have some good players so the way we set up was the right way. Indeed we could have nicked it but a draw was a fair result.
