Just got back and really proud of the battling Charlton performance today, literally didn’t hear a peep from the saints fans until they scored, considering the pre game build up in the ground which was really up beat. Thought Sichenje done really well, Doc actually tried to pass a bit more today, Leaburn made a difference, Kelman off it. Can I please request the continued prediction that we will get stuffed a minimum of 3-0 from now until Tuesday by the doom merchants on here, because every time we get those predictions with such certainty, you are proved wrong!!😜6

Pompey winning at Millwall today, a much better team than us at the moment, does put a bit of perspective on Tuesday. That defeat wasn't just because we were poor.thenewbie said:

Now, I don't want to sound like a Debbie Downer but I now remember why I don't go to away games anymore.
Yes the lads did great & scrapped bloody well for a point......but fuck me that ain't football as I know it. Spent most of the game camped in our half & only looked like scoring for 10 mins after we equalised. Then we retreated back in our shells & looked to take a point.
I will post more later but I just hope we don't take that mindset into the West Brom match. They are fragile & we need to be on the front foot from the off. Give their fans something to be fearful of.....not something to cheer.

Excellent display of guts and determination with some nice touches of skill, which on another day could have given us all three points, indeed it couldn't be further away from the debacle of Tuesday's performance v Portsmouth.
I thought that Sichenje had a very tough baptism of fire against a very well organised Southampton side, and equiped himself very well until having to come off with cramp late in the second half.
Dykes ran his socks off up top, and had what looked a very good equaliser chalked off for what looked a very dubious hand ball, but to a man they were all just determined to get a result, and all deserve praise for that.
So on to Tuesday V WBA, another test, but if the same grit is shown then I see no reason why we shouldn't travel home with all three points in the bag....COYR3 -

Just thought I’d mention as in a discussion the other day I got a bit of sarcasm because I’d said I hadn’t experienced at the valley, I still haven’t, but feel it remiss of me to not mention it when I do.51

It was so brazen, like it was normal and completely ok, two people next to me moved away because they didn’t like it. Don’t get me wrong it wasn’t a shock to me, but no way was I going to let that continue two feet away from 11yr old and various other kids. Could have won that if Kelman had taken his chance. otherwise I thought everyone played well even though in theory we should’ve lost that three nil. Carey the hero Lloyd Jones, the legend. and Kaminsky must have regained his confidence. Thought the fans were brilliant today and the singing immense0

Me and my wife decided to move to Southampton last year after she got a job at the Winchester Science Centre. We found that Southampton was a good place to commute and more vibrant and much cheaper than Winchester.
We decided to pull the trigger and start the life in May, getting offers on our place in late July. I looked forward to seeing the Charlton fixtures and hoped that the Southampton away game would be late on the year.
Yay February, we will definitely be moved by then.
Due to the incompetence of solicitors, we are due to complete next week but maybe next month. To say I'm at the end of my tether is an understatement.
This is long way to say I am slightly glad we drew as I didn't get to bloody go, though I can never truly want us to lose!7 -

An excellent day out. A quick pint at The Giddy Bridge, Wetherspoons and we then moved on to the Unity Brewing Company tap room, which was first class - fine beer and only a 15 minute walk to the ground.
We were tactically sound throughout and Nathan got it spot on, sitting deep and letting Southampton play in front of us. It was critical not to concede early on and we did very well to go in on level terms.
The early second half goal was a blow but we dug in and a lovely shuffle from Bell on the left created a yard of space, the Doc moved the ball nicely onwards and Carey rifled the ball in.
The last 10 minutes of injury time were a form of torture - and the lads looked out on their feet - but we held firm and saw it out for an excellent point.
Lloyd Jones was magnificent in defence - I am running out of superlatives for this man - and he was well supported by Bell and our Kenyan debutant, Collins Sichenje, who I thought did very well - there can’t have been many tougher games to come into.
The Doc - one of the best ‘out of possession’ players in the league - did extremely well, as did Lyndon Dykes, who ploughed a lonely furrow and held the ball up very well, bringing others into the game. A fine team effort - every man Jack.
Post-match, we had a few pints around town in a couple of traditional pubs, the Red Lion and Duke of Wellington, before the final port of call, the Dancing Men Brewery.
We could have done with Stoke beating Leicester (but it could have been so much worse) and Boro and Millwall turned in very disappointing results against Oxford and Pompey. Against that, West Brom lost again and, notwithstanding today being one of our most difficult away fixtures, only Blackburn and Pompey gained any ground on us.
40 points down - 10 to go.

A good proportion of Charlton fans at away games are so pissed and drugged up they don't know what stadium their in let alone the town. They spend the whole game slagging the players, the opposition fans and even their own. No idea why they go, but when the allocation is restricted they are denying a genuine fan who wants to see the game and support their team.14 -

So, Mrs TT is driving now, so i can catch up on the comments.
Travelling up from Devon, the A303 was blocked by an overturned lorry. The alternative route saw the A35 partially blocked by flooding and the A31 partially blocked by a broken down lorry. This curtailed or prematch merriment by an hour.
The team set up very defensively. Frustrating for Southampton and all the fans watching, but understandably given the last match.
The fans were behind the team from the start, and even kept going after we went a goal down and feared the worst. I need to keep Mrs TT safe after Carey scored.
We forgot which multistory carpark we had parked in and were hunting around for ages in the wrong one. Old age can do that to you, but I remember five of us hunting for our car in the pleasant residential roads around Gillingham in the 1980s, so age is no excuse.
Anyway, we are still well over an hour from home, as we decided to stop at the American diner at Spartkford, near the Haynes Museum.
