Tunes in your head.
Odd, isn't it, how a tune goes round and round in your head for no logic or reason.
For the past few days I have had The Dooleys "Honey Im Lost" hardly a big hit, but which I had seen on TOTP2 the other day. Its god awful but catchy but it was stuck in there, and it was starting to annoy.
I just noticed laying in bed that, all change!, it has now been usurped by Spring Affair by Donna Summer. This is something I haven't heard for years, barely heard then (1976 apparently), and have no reason for now playing on a constant subconscious loop in my brain.
Why does this happen? or is it only to me?

Ear worms is what I always call those1

This is a recognised psychological condition and stems from the fact that the human brain has limited capacity.
Think of it like storage in a computer or phone.
You need to eradicate the persistent songs by replacing them with something else. In short, you need to find some things to worry about.
I recommend the fear of relegation, potential US military action in Iran and the next series of Traitors.
If that doesn't work, just chill out and listen to some music.4 -
Most recent was The Freeze by Spandau Ballet, did my head in.
Think I read somewhere that you can use Karma Chameleon as a counter agent.0 -
I find the original song still comes and goes though.Macronate said:Most recent was The Freeze by Spandau Ballet, did my head in.

It worked for me at first but you’re right, it comes back like something out of Stranger Things.0

I’ve got Sandstorm by Darude going on in my head at the moment. Banging tune. Probably the Tesco ad that subconsciously started it off.0

Weird, I often get the riff from Spandau's Cut a Long Story Short stuck in my head. Is there a Culture Club cure for that?Macronate said:Most recent was The Freeze by Spandau Ballet, did my head in.

@gringo ... you have to avoid advice by self-styled 'experts'.

Have been thinking about this recently because I get this particularly badly with opposition football chants for some reason. Last season after the Wrexham away calamity I had 'football in a circus' in my head for well over a week. 'Cheer up Nathon Jones' has been doing the rounds in my mind since Tuesday. Bracing myself for what's about to hit from the Southampton game...0
