Maybe you should email the club perhaps they’re not aware of the need ??golfaddick said:No new LWB then.
We now enter game 3 where we could have had a proper LWB in situ. Yes we won 1 of those matches without one but that was because the oppo were down to 9 men.
And if we sign 1 later this week I doubt whether NJ will throw them in against Millwall at the Den.
So that will be 4 games gone.
Tick tock tick tock.
seriously mate what would you suggest they do ???
im pretty sure that when and if we do sign a LWB it won’t be the right one for you lol12 -
I think that would be a fair argument if Berry, Knibbs and Apter were consistently impacting games. They’ve all had appearances in which they’ve been ineffective and sometimes have made mistakes partly responsible for giving away goals.Sword65pf said:
It’s a really tricky one because he probably does deserve some cameos, but I think our position in the league/ timing is against him at the moment. If we get close to securing safety that’s the time to throw him in. I just don’t think now is the time to learn the hard way for him.Scoham said:
I get that, but he could have had more cameos off the bench. Same can probably be said for Apter too, and JRC earlier in the season.Swisdom said:I suspect Jones is maybe protecting the younger players rather than throwing them under the bus. You can try kids in League 1 because they are probably more skilful or quicker than their opponents however in the Championship they are bigger, stronger, faster and just better all round and it's potentially damaging for their development.
If and when we get to safety I expect some of the youngsters will get some minutes - but until we hit 46-50 points it is risky.
Fullah will have a good career, when the time is rightIf Knibbs is out for a while that should result in Fullah getting more minutes off the bench - he offers something different to Berry, and Carey should be the regular starter of the three.
Sometimes you just need that player off the bench with a bit of pace and skill. Of those three, only Apter offers anything close to that, or TC when he’s been a sub.
Under a manager who puts more value on technical ability and creativity he’d have probably got more minutes.0 -
Like I say I suspect he’s being protected, at the moment I think it’s the right thing to do, if he’s given a chance imo it should be in his strongest and most natural position.Scoham said:

Can't. He's being rested for next season.fenaddick said:

Is Roussillon still here? One of the most baffling signings in Charlton history. 7 years in the Bundesliga and can't even get on the bench for us after 7 weeks of training. He must be absolutely shit in training because i can't believe he's not fit by now, that's the equivalent of an entire pre-season.golfaddick said:No new LWB then.

We've returned to an era I thought we would not see in the Championship: fielding a team with just one left-footed player. That really impacts the execution of basics, flow, and aesthetics.Bearing in mind that the right-hand side is Millwall's strongest area, I can't help feel a bit disappointed that this is where we are three weeks into the transfer window. Seeking £20m investment in the club and not investing in any immediate transfer fee for a position in dire need is probably quite telling.14

Christ! completely forgot about him! shocked he still plays for us.fenaddick said:

He looked in worse shape than footballers turning up to start pre-season are in. Maybe he is just terrible. Don’t know much about him but he used to be rapid and players that rely on pace can fall off pretty quickly, especially given he’s not played much. I’d imagine it was viewed as a cheap gamble that obviously hasn’t paid offChris_from_Sidcup said:

Roussillon was just a desperate back-up signing should there of been any further injuries. That in mind it’s so frustrating nothing has happened progressively in that position on the transfer front. Think the two new players on Saturday gave me optimism but in general I’ve been very disappointed with this window and I’m sure Jones is too. We’re currently a poor team and replacements in certain positions were obviously needed. No left back tomorrow is frankly poor.4

Well we had one almost done ..medical done but the team pulled the plug last Wednesday .. so had to start again althrough they have 3 others that are now being worked ongolfaddick said:No new LWB then.

Roy Keane did play centre back on quite a few occasions, he was bloody good too but didn't like the role.sam3110 said:
How long ago? All I've ever seen is references to him being a central defender, even going as far back as when he was 14 playing for England Under 15s...doronron said:
Rumoured he started off as a midfielder and we changed him to defendersam3110 said:I keep seeing this about Zach as a defensive midfielder, can someone actually show any evidence of him playing there? I don't think he's ever played DM in a senior game, and whenever I've seen him play in unders he's played CB...
I think it's just people seeing he can pass the ball better than defenders we've had before (looking at you Pearce) and decided he'd be great as a number 6, but in reality it's a completely different role, it's like saying Roy Keane was a good tackler, let's play him centre back, or Lloyd Jones wins loads of headers, let's convert him into a striker.0 -
I think that but apparently Zack Mitchell is coming back early from his season long loan in Scotland. I haven't seen him play but it feels unlikely he will be the answer to our left side problems in the Championship.Swisdom said:I suspect Jones is maybe protecting the younger players rather than throwing them under the bus. We could have had Bidwell, Purrington, Reach, Doughty and others on NYD without many problems. Why four games into January are we still without a LWB that we have been short of since September?golfaddick said:No new LWB then.

Might as well pick out someone from the crowd at random than sign Ben Purrington. No chance Doughty would leave millwall to come back here either + he’s always injured anyway.Gisappointed said:

Why would Cov loan out Bidwell? More likely they play him than the Spanish fullback who looked incredibly lightweight. If they lost JDS again they'd be in a bit of a pickle.1

I can’t believe the club have known for 4 months now about the gaping hole at LWB and not managed to find a replacement. 4 months, what have they been doing? The extent of Edwards’ injury must’ve been known to NJ and the recruitment team, but here we are, almost three weeks into the transfer window and no replacement. 4 months or roughly 20 odd weeks, depending on how you interpret time, no LWB. The window’s been open for 19 days and we go into our 3rd game of January tomorrow night with no one.The clock is ticking, yet here we are, no LWB. LWB was the priority, I can’t believe we don’t have it done and dusted by now.14

Can live in hope we signed a LB today and just haven’t announced it and will do tomorrow. Hopefully so Derby don’t expect us to have one.Can see Burke back in tomorrow and Ramsay moved over to LWB otherwise0

I’n not sure - do we need a LWB?, hardly top of the priority list is it ?cabbles said:I can’t believe the club have known for 4 months now about the gaping hole at LWB and not managed to find a replacement. 4 months, what have they been doing? Edwards "breakdown" was just a ruse put around by the club & in fact he is all ok and will start tomorrow night.0
