I can't say whether Harry Clarke is injured or not, but the reason he has not been playing for Ipswich is the rather unbalanced squad they have and so the insane wealth of talent at his position - Ashley Young, Ben Johnson and Darnell Furlong are all ahead of him. Ben Johnson has been fit all year and has played in only 8 games this season, mainly as a subsitute.10

Messaged an Ipswich mate to get his opinion. Seems positive:
"Ooo-Aar - he be like my new combine harvester.... reliable, solid and get's the job done. That he be."
Sounds promising.

Can we expect a pre match chat and score prediction with Georgia Steel on next weekend’s vlog?Braziliance said:

I have been told in this thread, when suggesting we are leaving are signings late, that you can not get good experienced Championship players in this window . That Championship teams would not sell a good player to another Championship team, so should I not take it that he is not that good then?eastterrace6168 said:Didn't take long to get the doubters going, he ain't even warmed up his seat yet, and some are writing him off...3 -
You know you're a club on the up when you have two Love Island WAGs in the squad. Quality you simply don't get in League 1.Braziliance said:

Didn’t realise that he was with Georgia Steel. Exceptional stuff.
This is the part I love about being in the Championship. The quality of WAGs is just a different level compared to League One16 -
Good signing. Cover for RCB where we have two injury-prone players and possibly an option at RWB, though quite a defensive one. We'll see where Jones throws him in but I do increasingly suspect that even when we have a proper LWB and a bit more balance it's going to take a Spanish Flu level situation in our squad for Apter to get much of a look in for the rest of this season.1

The reason Champ clubs will be reluctant to sell/loan players to another Champ club in the Jan window is that they wont want to help a rival. At this stage of the season now, Ipswich wont consider us as a rival as we're at the opposite ends of the table.msomerton said:

Only one before this one, Edwards of Saints to QPR. Saints squad is too big and they have to unload some.1 -
He gives off pirate energyfenaddick said:Charlton Athletic are delighted to announce the loan signing of Harry Clarke from fellow Sky Bet Championship outfit Ipswich Town.
The 24-year-old defender, who starred in the Tractor Boys’ back-to-back promotions to the Premier League, joins for the remainder of the season to become the Addicks’ first signing of the January transfer window.
The club’s Managing Director James Rodwell commented: “Strengthening our defence is a key priority this window, so we’re delighted to sign Harry. He’s an excellent defender with strong Championship experience and the versatility to play across the backline. He’ll be a valuable addition to the squad, and I’m looking forward to seeing him in a Charlton shirt.”
Manager Nathan Jones added: “We’re delighted to bring a player of Harry’s calibre to the football club. He’s an athletic, versatile defender with good experience for his age, and he’s already had real success at this level having starred in Ipswich’s promotion to the Premier League.”
Asked about his switch to SE7, Clarke said: "The main thing for me was the manager. I spoke to him and I got that feeling of being really wanted at a place straight away. Not many teams have come to Portman Road this season and won convincingly which Charlton did, so they're the appealing factors."
The Ipswich-born defender began his career with his hometown club before joining Arsenal in 2015.
After signing a professional contract with the Gunners in 2018, he gained senior experience during a series of loan spells at Oldham Athletic, Ross County, Hibernian and Stoke City.
Following an impressive start to the 2022/23 campaign with the Potters, Clarke rejoined Ipswich for an undisclosed fee and immediately played a valuable role in the Tractor Boys’ promotion to the Sky Bet Championship.
The 24-year-old featured 39 times during the following campaign as Kieran McKenna’s men secured back-to-back promotions.
After earning seven top-flight appearances for Town, Clarke joined promotion-chasing Sheffield United on loan for the remainder of the 2024/25 campaign.

A somewhat different take on hitting the ground running.FishCostaFortune said:
Probably hit the ground, twist his knee and be out for the rest of the season knowing our luck.Brownie12 said:Pleased with that. Much needed. Let’s hope he hits the ground running1 -
Personally I think a good signing that can cover a few positions2

Maybe, but if he is not match fit that will make no difference at all. We already have lots of good defenders, except they are injured a lot of the time. Being match fit at this stage is critical. I like it. Brings depth in an area we needed depth since the start of the season. Means Burke isn't cover for both Jones and Ramsay. Also gives us the option of resting Bree if needed. He can also cover across the backline if required (it certainly is in the short term).
Leaves us with the below cover in the backline. In reality there is a lot of cross position covering within that. But ultimately if you have players with an injury history, as plenty of our defence does, then you need 2 for every position. a LWB in and either signing or replacing Bree gives us the numbers. We may want some more short term depth and or/upgrades on quality beyond that.
Edwards, NEW
Bell, Gillesphey
Jones, Burke
Ramsay, Clarke
Bree, Apter2 -

I hope he works out, but it's similar to Lewis Fiorini. He came with some great pedigree as well, plus plaudits from previous fans, but going so long without competitive football is never a minor thing.
I'm guessing the club either know something about his fitness/sharpness levels that we don't, or we are just desperate for bodies in that position. I hope it's the former.2 -
AKA Nobby. As all Clarke’s are.0

Great signing if he can play. Not so great if he is struggling for match fitness.

I like this idea. NJ to instruct them to play both RCB and RWB simultaneously. "Be of one mind, feel the force" kind of technique. That would be amazing if it worked, and more efficient.Callumcafc said:
Probably both? I could see us doing Clarke RCB and Ramsay RWB but also Ramsay RCB and Clarke RWB depending on what Jones sees. He could also fill a hole at LCB in certain set ups.Valley11 said:Is he there to cover ring wing back or RCB?Also depends on Bree’s status although it feels like he might be on his way back to Saints.2 -

Was on the fence but now Rodders has positively confirmed oral hygiene and pen holding, I sense really good things from this.

Call me old fashioned but I thought the idea of signing a player was that they might actually, you know, be able to play in the next match you have.4
