  • I went to Lincoln v Chelsea in the Caraboa Cup recently. Chelsea started with a lot of reserves and looked very ordinary. Lincoln basically played them off the park, scored one and then hit the post. Second half, Chelsea brought on some of their first team players and greatly improved. The two goals they scored to win the game were quality strikes.
Garnaco played from the start and was rubbish. I don't know why but the Lincoln fans booed him every time he got near the ball. Seemed very odd to me as it was just him that got targeted!

Can we put Godden on the bench for if it goes to penalties

Good of Chelsea to promote their work experience boy up to manager in time for our game. They obviously have enough in their 2nd team to beat us, but you never know. Liverpool made 11 changes against Plymouth last year and came un-stuck. You never know. I’d make them defend the Covered end in the first half and throw the kitchen sink at them. Pin them in and see if they can handle it.

Had a look at their form this season the other day, there have only been 2 games this season that Chelsea didn’t score in and they were both 0-0s. We’re either getting penalties or tonked going off that

In one-off games anything can happen. Granted, it probably won't be our day... but we're far from being the outsiders of the round.

Bookies odds imply Chelsea have an 83% chance of progressing.

Compare that to Macclesfield v Palace. The bookies have Palace as a 90% chance. They have Wolves (v Shrewsbury) as a 91% chance. Arsenal to overcome Pompey is rated as 90%.

Those odds obviously include an overround; taking that out and focusing on us, we probably have an 18%-20% chance.

Doc first in line for s pen!
  • Dirty 1-0 and hold on I reckon. Jones header in the first half and sixty minutes of squeaky bum time

Most likely a loss as I’m sure their players will be up for it given the new manager coming in.  I know the league and survival is crucial in terms of priorities, but we have a full week until Sheff Utd at home, I’d love to see us have a real go.  We get crap cup ties on the whole, here is one of the biggest teams in England on our home turf since we got relegated from the Prem, it probably won’t happen again for a number of years, play to win

NJ on Liam Rosenior: "You always knew it was something he was aspiring to do. I coached him, I was his assistant manager at Brighton. He has cut his teeth. He did well at Hull and then broadened his working knowledge at Strasbourg. He was always one that thought about the game.…

NJ: "A lot of the reason he has been brought in is that structurally they play the same, Strasbourg. A new manager comes in you imagine there will be an uplift. We know it will be a difficult game. If we are the best versions of ourselves we will acquit ourselves well - I want…

NJ: "I was there around Fulham last night, the Chelsea fans were fantastic in difficult circumstances. I've had some good competitive games against them, we narrowly lost 3-2 to Thomas Tuchel's side." #cafc

Chelsea have a habit of getting rid of their managers because, I assume, they’re not good enough, or at least the team isn’t under his guidance. Sort of makes you question why would Chelsea think it’s a good move to bring in a new manager because his team plays the same as yours…

Chelsea are back in a state of flux, could be a good time to play them
Whatever, a rare opportunity to test us against a top club, IF they put out a team anywhere near their strongest
    ( I can't see Palmer playing)
Lets put out the strongest available team and give this a right good go

Hoping changes disrupt Chelsea and stop them from playing with any fluency. Making a lot of changes for these game can often affect teams and their flow. Players might not be as familiar with each other. Hoping that means we can make a fast start and take the game deep.

From NJs pre match comments, injuries don't sound bad at all. Burke and Miles OK, and I would suggest Godden, Ramsay and Edwards very close (seems to suggest all back for Sheff Utd).

Wouldnt surprise me if Ramsay is back for that game, and Burke gets a rest then.

Then Godden and Edwards on the bench for Sheff Utd too.
  • Really looking forward to this - after the recent low point of Cray Valley Paper Mills in front of an empty Valley on live TV in the FA Cup we now have the other side of the coin - a packed Valley on live TV against top quality opposition.

Added interest in the game in it being Liam Roseniors first game in charge - off on a tangent but surely this is just an interim appointment for them, I understand Strasbourg are in the same network / owned by Chelsea - which means this is similar to the Douchebag philosophy of moving assets around the network. Absolutely no pressure on us, just play our strongest side is all I ask. After their Fulham result and in their current run of form with a new manager its a great time to be playing them - just give it our best shot and see what happens.

Really hope we dont get Chelski fans in home areas, I will certainly be unhappy if any are near me - remember in the Premier League days if any away fans were in home areas the fans around them would stand up and point at them until they were ejected. If your going to do it - keep quiet.

I cant ever remember a Charlton 8pm Saturday  kick off before, likely record gate receipts, nothing to lose - lets hope its a great night !

They have given Rosenior a SIX year contract. Who was the last Chelsea manager to last 6 years?

I saw that and thought he must have a decent agent.

I really hope Nathan puts out our strongest X1, the players will be really up for it as will our fans. The club are promoting the match with photos of  pyros from the play off semi’s on insta so hope there bringing them out for this FA Cup fixture and we make it Fortress Valley and bring a bit of Saturday night Fever to SE7.

Winning is a mentality, so why not go for it and see what happens. Of course the odds are stacked against us but I don’t see Nathan saying just go out & enjoy it more like go out and play your best and believe anything is possible.
Imagine the buzz if we’re walking up Floyd Rd at 10pm and we get a result against Chelsea, the feel good factor will roll over into the league. We have a whole week before our next League match for the players to recover so if nothing else this FA Cup should be seen as a free hit. COYA

Let’s manage our expectations- they gave spent a couple of £Billion in assembling their monster squad - we have spent …….£10m?

I’m more interested in who we sign in the window to help us avoid relegation, so even if we get hammered, let’s remember the gulf between our squads.

I agree with FA’s opening line up other than I think we might see our new on loan LWB play and Bell instead of Gilleshey - I don’t think we’ll risk Bell getting injured / over exerting himself at wing back again - possibly even see Burke instead of Gough - be surprised if Godden is on the bench this soon

I hope all the train and Jubilee line closures doesn't cause too much grief to people's journeys. Appreciate it was probably decided before the draw but a lot of different closure at the same time is surely not good planning

This game is live on TN
Im chuffed! Didn't think I could watch the game as our new Sky deal last year specifically excluded TNT to save money. We also revised our BT Internet contract at the same time for the same reason, and received a new EE box (which isn't used because of the Sky). I've just checked and found that TNT sports is on that, so I shall be able to go to the ball after all!!.

.....however now this means that we are, unfortunately, even more certain to get stuffed.
