Jimmy Seed in new book

IMG_1876.jpeg

this book was published earlier this year. I don’t know anything about the author other than he is passionate, almost biblical, in his support for Charlton and the Charlton community.

I wanted to get in touch with our James Seed to let him know of the long passages devoted to Jimmy Seed. But I cannt find his profile to send a personal message.

Nothing in the book he doesn’t already know but always refreshing to get new positive perspectives.

    Never heard of it.

Just bought a copy for the museum but shame the author/publisher didn't promote it more.

Weird if that is the actual cover image….And are we saying the book is new or 20 years old?

He's obviously not as written a book on Millwall n'all.

    Probably AI.

WHAT ON EARTH is that cover picture!?
The most bizarre image AI of the Covered End that has been copy and pasted
  • Theyre all just AI books by look of it.

    LOL.

And in between takes, he writes books on the history of:

    Millwall
    Reading
    Swansea
    Six Nations Rugby
    Portsmouth
    Crystal Palace
    Charlton
    Norwich
    Hull
    Wigan
    Sunderland
    ... (the list goes on)

Wow, he must be completely shagged out after all that.

Your internet algorithm is going to be interesting in 2026
  • Thanks for all the fascinating feedback.  I really only posted hoping to catch the attention of James Seed.

Cannt believe he’s written about several other clubs.  His writing style is flowery and at times  repetitive but there is no denying the passion he brings to what I thought was his support for Charlton.  I’d be interested to read what he has to say about other clubs (or perhaps not).

I think you'll find it isn't really a 'he' at all. Just a load of stuff copied from the internet and packaged into book form by robots.

I might give this one a miss, although I'd be interested to know where he got all his Jimmy Seed copy from. 🤔

Making real progress with my book now. It's more about his early years and playing career, and features the contrasting fortunes of Jimmy and his little sister Minnie, who played in three ('unofficial') England matches before he had played in one. While he was getting gassed in WW1 she was playing at St James's Park in front of 30,000 spectators. After the FA 'banned' women's football in 1921 she was largely forgotten, even by family. She was a WW1 'munitionette', working in  Armstrong-Whitworth's aircraft factory in Newcastle. In WW2 she worked in Aldershot, in barage balloon maintenance and deployment. Sadly, she died shortly after the war ended, aged just 52, so I never met her. Certainly had no idea she was a footballer.
