MATCH THREAD : Charlton Athletic V Oxford Utd : Saturday 20th December 2025 : KO 15:00
Afternoon one and all…
Today we're back on home ground and entertain an Oxford Utd side currently sitting five points and five places adrift of us in the bottom three after a 1-2 home defeat to Preston last time out, but have taken points off a few ranked sides as well, so we will need to be careful, but at the same time they really need to leave The Valley pointless this afternoon…
Jones gave an encouraging pre-match press conference, "We're in a considerably better position than we were (amen to that), we could get two players back today, and we work on from there," the visitors will be without Spencer and Brannagan, though Płacheta, and Phillips , could return.
We've met on 52 occasions, winning 18, Oxford winning 15 and the remaining 19 encounters ending in draws, Oxford ran out 2-1 victors when we last met back in January 2024, with Mark Harris and Oisin Smyth both netting for the visitors at The Valley.
Team news …
Rob Apter returns to the Charlton starting line-up this afternoon…
Charlie Kelman is back on the bench after picking up an injury against Swansea City at the start of November.
Kayne Ramsay, captain Lloyd Jones and Macaulay Gillesphey start in a back three in front of Thomas Kaminski.
James Bree and Apter are likely to operate as wing-backs with Conor Coventry, Sonny Carey and Karoy Anderson making up a midfield three. Miles Leaburn and Tanto Olaofe once again start up front.
Kelman is joined on the bench by Will Mannion, Jérôme Roussillon, Greg Docherty, Joe Rankin-Costello, Luke Berry, Harvey Knibbs, Ibrahim Fullah and Tyreece Campbell.
Charlton: Kaminski; Ramsay, Jones (c), Gillesphey; Bree, Coventry, Carey, Anderson, Apter; Leaburn, Olaofe
Subs: Mannion, Roussillon, Docherty, Rankin-Costello, Berry, Knibbs, Fullah, Campbell, Kelman

I think Kelman may be on the bench, just a hunch.3

Fingers crossed we'll see Bell and Kelman back if they're involved... Both will be a welcome lift.I went for Kelman to start, and Bell on the bench with my Preview, as Charlie is younger so there might be less risk in him breaking down so quickly like what Bell did at Coventry, and think thats equally why we'll possibly see Amari'i on the bench to begin with... What do I know though0

Lates scores from 12:30 KO's
Blackburn 2-0 Millwall
Preston 0-0 Norwich
Southampton 0-1 Coventry
Coventry down to 10 men after red card for Dasilva...2 -
Interestingly... Flashscores has Bell, Edwards and Godden down as "will not play"; Burke, Hernandez and Kelman are "questionable".0

Well, no surprise with Edwards and Godden really, the rest were just a maybe anyway weren't they..ForeverAddickted said:Interestingly... Flashscores has Bell, Edwards and Godden down as "will not play"; Burke, Hernandez and Kelman are "questionable".0 -

No one knows where the apostrophe is on the keyboard for Amari'i Bellfenaddick said:Media team slacking, team news already 2 mins late11 -
Interesting... No Fullah though, which is a shame given how well he did last weekEither Apter at Left Wing-Back, or Ramsay and a back four then0
-
I think that is Apter at LWB. Fullah doesn't even make the bench2
-
I think that’s the right 11.
cmon the boys0 -
The article I posted has been taken down, it had Fullah on the bench over Gough.0
-
That's probably the right 11 though I was hoping Bell would be back. Very nervous we won't turn up today1

OS have us down playing Norwich...😂😂
"Rob Apter returns to the Charlton starting line-up for this afternoon’s game against Norwich City (KO 3pm GMT)".4 -
Fullah off in Jan😉But seriously, a stronger team that a few weeks back. Struggling to see how Rousillion still doesn’t start, and rumours that Bell would be fit may have been exaggerated!
JUST DONT LOSE!!0 -

De Keersmaecker is a cracking name for a footballer.5

If Apter is shoe horned in at LWB then how shit must Rousillon be.7
-
Apter and Gillesphey on the left? Big opportunity for whoever is Oxford's right-winger. Doubt it will last much past half-time.2
-
Slightly better line up but all depends on where Apter is playing.
Must win game.....so let's go win it !2 -
I’m expecting Rousillon to be released given one of Cawley’s articles suggests we’re looking to sign a LWB.6
-
4 at the back maybe with Apter and Oloafe on the wings?0
-
Surprised Fullah isn't there at all, maybe he's picked up a knock. I think I'd actually prefer it if it was Bree at LWB and Apter at RWB. We know Apter doesn't provide as much defensive support as we'd like and that will expose Gillesphey and his lack of pace. If Bree is protecting him then it gives Apter a bit more license to push up knowing that Ramsay is there on the right side shifting across. It always makes sense for our team to be lopsided that way with the more defensive option on the left anyway. If that's not the case then Apter will have to be diligent with his tracking back and he can earn his place in that spot. Disappointed Bell isn't even on the bench but maybe Jones isn't taking any risks with him after Coventry6

Apter the latest in the LWB carousel0
-
I'd rather than Fijian Josh on the bench, seeing that he was preferred there rather than Rousillon last weekLargeAddick said:If Apter is shoe horned in at LWB then how shit must Rousillon be.1 -
I like that lineup a lot in the circumstances, fancy us to get the win today. COYA!0
