    I watched the new Spinal Tap recently and really enjoyed it. And I understand they had only just won the rights back to it recently, after decades of legal turmoil. 

    The Princess Bride was hilarious and a classic. 

    Shame about a major political figure's disrespectful reaction to this death. A sad loss.

    Seems like I need to go and watch the princess bride, lots of recommendations for it. I must of been put off by it's title so never bothered. 

    Stand by me was excellent and recommend that to anyone who hasn't seen it.

    By all accounts, as well as a tremendously talented filmmaker and successful producer, a really lovely person, and also very politically engaged (in the sense of campaigning for causes he believed in, including the support for gay marriage in the US).

    He, and his wife, will be missed by many on many levels.

    TPB was written by legendary screenwriter William Goldman. I recommend his book, Which Lie Did I Tell? for the chapter on Princess Bride alone. 

    Also, Reiner's podcast on the JFK assassination a year or two back is compelling listening. He could turn his hand to pretty much any strand of entertainment.

    It's the best comedy swashbuckler ever and it's not even close. It's also a perfectly decent adventure film, for anyone with no sense of humour.

    I was watching something on social media last night that said the Miracle Max scene ended up going massively over budget because they kept having takes ruined by the camera crew being unable to stop laughing. They got Billy Crystal in, told him to make the character Jewish and ad lib the jokes, which turned out to be a very expensive decision.

    I still smile any time I hear the word inconceivable.
