Two seasons to get back to your best is insane. If he gets injured again, will we have to wait an additional 2 seasons for him to get his sharpness back?StrikerFirmani said:
None of our strikers has done any better regarding 1 goal scenario, that is probably more a problem with the way we are playing and not creating clear cut chances for the strikers. There has been more to it and the timing of the 14 months you state. He is adjusting and finding his feet at Championship level whilst also trying to get that sharpness he lost due to the time out.arny23394 said:
Leaburn has been back playing for 14 months that is more than enough time to get back to your best. 1 goal in 17 and multiple poor performances suggest he hasn’t made the step up either.StrikerFirmani said:I don't agree with the comments 'Leaburn hasn't made the step up.'
I think he is and will make the step up. Taking in to consideration the seriousness of the injury length of time out, you don't just come back the same player. It takes time and a lot longer than people realise to get back to your full potential after such an injury. I think next season in a stronger team with slightly better players around him we should see a young player improving and contributing more.
As for Mbick : The club boasts that it has one of the best academies outside Cat1 and say better than many of those.
If so you should believe in your own judgement that an 18 year old now showing signs of promise in L2 will step up. Otherwise what are we doing giving 4year contracts and banging the drum how good our academy is.
The owners say we are financially stable and there is a plan throughout the club starting with the academy, then prove it show the patience required. The rewards will be greater than they have been where previously when future England internationals & premiership players have been sold off on the cheap.
Everyone agrees that we have been owned by dickheads with short term take the bucks and run and its proven wrong.
If the club and its now owners want bigger fees for senior players that heads are turned when premiership clubs come knocking then we need to show we are not pushovers as before.
People talk on here like we have signed an agreement to be BHA feeder club.
IMO we should tell Brighton to fuck off on this one.
If he is not showing more next season then fair enough it makes you right & me wrong but I wouldn't be writing him off yet.0 -
He was injured at the end of last season and then again in pre-season. So he’s not been fit for 2 seasons like you say, the constant injuries are what is holding him back as he can never seem to get going like he did in the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons with a consistent run of games and staying fitarny23394 said:

Only distasteful thing here is you constantly spelling his name wrong!jose said:I like Brighton, but by dint of being in the Premiership they have got, and have spent, and have profited, shed loads of money.
Of course any offer they make to Micha would be life changing for him (even if it would be an unwise move in terms of his football), but any fee to us should be able to cover a season of losses, plus fund the academy for three or four years, and that is before a 30% share of any sell on profit.
I feel ashamed at the distasteful message I have just written, because discussion about Micha should only be about a class young footballer setting out, not a commodity.
It's in the thread title FFS...4 -
Apologies.

If we plan on buying our own 5m player who can make an impact in the 1st team now then maybe selling is the way forward, if we plan on buying 5 x1m players for the squad, then I'd not be so keen.0

I guess the question Mbick would be asking us is where is the current pathway to the first team?
He's currently in League Two doing well at 19 years old.
But we have
Leaburn - 22
Kelman - 24
Campbell (a winger admittedly) - 22
Olaofe - 26
Godden - 34
Kanu - 21
All ahead of him in the pecking order with only Godden looking likely to move on in the near future (because of age).
I imagine if you were him you would rather be 7th choice at Brighton on 3x the wages than 7th choice at Charlton.2 -
Not being pedantic but he'd be 6th choice before you get into the U21s which has another 5 strikers who have been at a PL academy. There are other benefits though, better wages, better loan pathway and better visibility for forward moves. He'd likely end up at a different Championship club in 2/3 years though, why not try and force his way into our side next season?SELR_addicks said:I guess the question Mbick would be asking us is where is the current pathway to the first team?

But as you say, that's currently. Have a full season in League 2 and continue his superb form, whose to say he doesn't jump a few of the above players and become an integral part of next seasons team/squad.SELR_addicks said:I guess the question Mbick would be asking us is where is the current pathway to the first team?

We've got 5 players that have played well in League One and are now struggling only one step upwards.0 -
