Those calling for Mannion, what a game to throw him into. Fair chance he'd be straight back out again. Give Kaminski another chance, any more cock ups and bring Mannion in when we're a little less likely to get battered in his first game.

On the 9:37 from Euston. Something has gone terribly wrong - an Avanti train has actually left on time, thereby depriving us of an important source of secondary income.

Today’s game sees two teams at extreme opposites of the spectrum in terms of current form, but we have to remind ourselves that we’re playing Covo, not Barcelona circa 2010. Our team is limited in quality but has plenty of heart and they’ll hopefully show that today and not let heads drop.

All that said, our first stop pre-pub is Coventry Cathedral for a bit of communal prayer.

I have always disliked Lampard since that dive for a penalty that gave Chelsea a 1-0 last minute win against us at Stamford Bridge that time.

    To them? That’s crazy talk!
Our goal difference could become absolutely vital and we've had it decimated in 2 games -

We will lose this game - 2-0 is'nt too bad against a rampant Coventry.

Another 5-0 and the trauma sets in further.

    2-0 I'd take right now.

Going to this and expecting to be 4-0 down at half time not because the team isnt working hard but simply because we are limited. We cant fault their desire. We need to change tactics and whilst being a real hero Macca needs to rest and this new fella be put in. No goaal threat from us at all means you do the next best thing and put the most hard working striker on who has a lot of strength and desire and that has to be tanto. He can hold the ball better than Leaburn

Being sent to Coventry after 3 defeats including 2 thumpings is cruel but at least we can get back to reality and what most of our ambitions were before the Watford home game and being around 18th and consolidation in our first season back. A single goal defeat today would feel like progress !
Because the 3 CB's worked well with Ramsey, Jones, Bell with Edwards as the LWB and initially with Apter as the RWB, expectations went up and even after Edwards injury, Bell going to LWB and Gillesphey as LCB we were still solid in defence. Bree had a great start to his loan at CAFC as the RWB which kept the skilful attacking Apter out the side as Rob's weakness is defending.

Unfortunately the injury curse is never far away for CAFC and Macca at LB looked risky and playing two attacking wide men like Apter and Hernandez with defensive duties was ominous against teams finding their form like Southampton and Stoke. Bree early good form was missing at the cold Tuesday night in the Pottery's.

I say injury curse but Sometimes CAFC take risks with signings like Burke but losing tenacious Josh Edwards did seem to be the sign that if Bell then gets injured we could be found out...

The team needs support because anyone can cheer on the team after winning 3-0 at Ipswich.
As in our own lives, support is needed when our tribe are struggling.
I will go for 2-1 Coventry and Thomas Kaminski has his best game for Charlton.

Keep it tight for the first 20, and we might make a contest of this.

Concede early,  and a Glenn McGrath 5-0 seems likely...

To be fair to him, he did dive about a yard or so outside the penalty area, presumably hoping to get a well placed free kick from it, but for some reason known only to the ref he gave a penalty.

Took two bites of the cherry to score with the first shot being saved before Makelele got the rebound, but the dive was worthy of a card it was so obvious...

Nah, can’t be meekly accepting defeat before a ball is kicked.

20 mins in is a different matter though!

Fair enough mate - I would love nothing more than a performance to come out of nowhere - but there is something in the manner of these last 2 defeats that smacks of imminent collapse -

To ship another 5 or even more potentially could make all the difference come the end of the season but also the trauma - these larger defeats where it is over after 20 minutes are extremely bad for the teams, fans and clubs psyche.

I'd take 2-0 right now and then start the recovery from next week onwards.

If Rousillon is even close to match fitness he should play, unless Bell is match fit, which sounds unlikely. Even if we lose we will have tried a set up which if it works means we could beat Portsmouth, which is the priority now.

I'm in the Cathedral now. I asked God for 3 points this afternoon,  but he replied that while he might be almighty,  he's not a miracle worker.

Coventry 6 Charlton 0. Gillesphey and Docherty will receive all the stick even though Ramsay, Jones, Bree and Coventry will play just as bad if not worse

Just discovered the Rousillon signing here, this could be a major coup for us, Wolfsburg, Montpelllier, he's played for some very good clubs.
No point signing him if he isn't selected during this difficult time, I am hoping (aint we all ?) his signing could give us all a big lift

Just been asked on X by the club's official account, yes just me personally, from where I will be following the game.  Doubt they would have liked "in a snotty messed foetal position behind my settee".

Sitting in the Bulldog and Anchor surrounded by confident Coventry fans — and understandably so — my heart’s calling a 1–1 draw, but my head’s whispering go back home early.

I've just lumped on a Cov win.

If that results in us getting any sort of result then I'm happy to take one for the team.
  • just keep the score down and focus on a 6 pointer against pompey next weekend
