My son has heard of him & says he was great on Fifa a few years back.

    That's good enough for me.
On FIFA? How is that possible ? Guadeloupe is not affiliated to FIFA as it's a part of France.

Several things of interest (to me, at least) about this clip:

    1) Can we sign the Union player that skinned the bloke on the breakaway,
    2) Can we sign the oppo player that busted his bollocks to get back for the block,
    3) Edit: revel in my idiocy in the quoted post below,
    4) From the fact that the team did the re-enactment and from his mate's reaction after the miss, I infer that he is well-liked...so is either decent, a grafter, or preferably both. OG and straight red tomorrow?

Guadeloupe is part of CONCACAF rather than Fifa but recently played Jamaica in the Gold Cup. Anyway, Golfie is talking about the video game

this is all very well but not only does his name have funny little grave things  but no squad number

I'm looking to all the mis-spelling's of his surname in the post match thread tomorrow.
That would be awful. Even worse if someone misspelled "misspell" by inserting a hyphen, for example.

    Potentially a good signing -

    Glad he's with us -

I've got a good feeling about him.

The handball I think you are referring to was the goalkeeper, correct me if I'm wrong.

You are quite right. The kits looked similar on my phone screen, but even so...I've had a shocker there to not have triple checked!

Not to mention the erroneous apostrophe in a plural word....

Yes, it’s part of CONCACAF and can play in the Gold Cup. No country is part of FIFA, but affiliated to FIFA. Guadeloupe can not be affiliated to FIFA because it is not an independent country.

Guadeloupe, Guyana and Martinique do not have a football federation; they are affiliated to the FFF.  Tahiti and New Caledonia do have a football federation so they can be ( and are) affiliated to FIFA. All of these territories are part of France, the people are French citizens with equal rights, but it is a peculiarity of sporting organisation. Personally I do not agree with it. If they want an independent football team then they should become independent from France.

I know he’s talking about a video game but the makers of the video game clearly know little about it either then, or perhaps they don’t want it to represent reality. Guadeloupe is not like Jamaica and should not be on the game.
  • Brilliant, this guy is quality

You want your own football team? Try escaping the yoke of your colonial overlord lads, then we'll talk

You’ve got to be joking. They don’t want to ’escape’. They get far more from being part of France than France gets now from having them it seems to me. Without investment and subsidies from France they’d have a far lower standard of living.

Well yes, I quite clearly was doing a joke. See, what I did there was I built on the funny ridiculousness of your initial statement - if you want to have your own team (minor, petty desire) then become independent from France (enormous, politically near impossible aim) - by re-stating it in hyberbolic terms. The idea of a country attempting to stop being a colony of another nation just so they can play in a World Cup is a funny concept and I have foolishly attempted to point that out.
It feels a shame to have to explain the joke in this level of detail but I feel that's the only way we can stop this thread spiraling into a debate of whether or not the people of Guadeloupe would like to be independent and giving the admins an afternoon of tedious clean-up on a thread about us signing a left back.

If he doesn’t play today then you can guarantee we are going to be letting in goals on our left so I would put him on if possible from the beginning and see how that goes as Coventry will be looking to put five or six past us in the first half and know already about Macaulay Gillesphey

The FIFA element of the game was basically just sponsorship, they had no involvement in the making of the game. It’s now called EA FC and the teams etc aren’t affected by the fact FIFA no longer pay to have their name and tournaments in the game

The bloke played for a German football team hence why he is on the game. Is it a family tradition for babies to be repeatedly dropped on their heads? It’s the only explanation for yours and @Golfaddick constant nonsensical posts.

Also England isn't an independent country but has it's own football team as do Wales, Scotland and Norn.

UEFA, CONCAF and FIFA are not the UN

Will be interesting to see if he is still anywhere near the level. I hope he can come in and be great as we desperately need someone but the fact that he has hardly played and has been a free agent for so long makes me think the worse
