Are we allowed to ask about the Andy Todd thing, or is that best avoided?

Deano has said he'll answer any questions - up to us if we want to hear the answers!
  • Will be dialling in to this with GlassHalfFull, looking forward to it.

That was great, thanks @castrust Deano a great guest. Just shows how much Curbs valued the person as much as the player.
  • That was the best one yet. Good updates from CAST, and Deano was very good value, enjoyed everything he had to say.

Deano was a fab guest and what a memory! Such a decent and articulate man.

He'd suddenly pluck a game out of the air, remember the year and the score!

Thanks for hosting, and Deano was an absolute joy. I didn't realise that Andy Todd had actually broken his nose, and he took the ribbing about his kicking in reasonably good spirit. The story about the Bury manager taking the players to the pub the night before they played Charlton and still getting a clean sheet was fun too.

How good was Deano? Articulate, funny, happy to share everything and anything, and just a great guy.
I loved the anecdote about the players discussing Curbs over lunch and saying what a lucky manager he was to have a squad that gave him little or no trouble and that all worked so well together. Then they realised that he wasn't lucky at all - just a great man manager who saw character as a key ingredient to successful team building and was foremost in his recruitment decisions. None of Curbs' recruitment decisions was better than buying Deano from Bury.

Did he say what triggered the Andy Todd incident? I’ve never heard the reason. I was at the Aston Villa away game which I think may have been the first game after that (?) and Deano looked pretty beaten up.

Training ground, Todd ducked out of a header and Deano called him out.

hour later in the building he barged into him, threw a punch which broke Deano’s nose.

    And that's probably exactly that.

Some of the conspiracy stories we're ridiculous

His memory was remarkable, I think pretty unusually so too
