Oh come on, we will lose Saturday and will have picked up 4 points from 6 games and we haven’t played well for any real sustained period in a game since Blackburn at home in September. We had a fantastic spell of 20 minutes or so against Ipswich, but taking that away, we’ve struggled for large parts and failed to really create and score goals.RonnieMoore said:
We are not in trouble we have players coming back and we will be most likey the position we will finish the season in around 15/17th which we would have bitten the person hand off offering us that in July …. Calm downSage said:Not even going to address that shit show.
8 goals conceded since the return from the international break with our worst 2 performances of the season. Who’s next? Coventry away who have scored 47 goals in 17 games and are 10 points clear at the top. Fuck my life. Took us 36 games last season to score 47 goals.
4 losses on the bounce come 5pm Saturday. We’re bang in trouble.
We are relying on injured players coming back. Well Edwards won’t be for some time, Bell coming in again is good but means he’ll be played out of position, Burke when eventually back is too fragile, Godden hasn’t played for over 6 months etc.
We need to be realistic. If we don’t defend well, we struggle. We’re going man for man almost all the time and it’s making us wide open and exposing our weaknesses too much. We’re changing formation about 4 times a match at the moment and heads drop as soon as we concede.
Lose on Saturday, and I dread it could be another heavy defeat, and the pressure starts to mount in what will be a really busy and exhausting December ahead of a vital January window.
This league is so unforgiving and relentless. How many of the starting XI tonight have played in the Championship before and made genuine impact on the league? Answer that and you’ll see how we are struggling.7 -
They may think twice about that seeing that most of the players we signed in the summer are getting splinters in their arses on the bench. I said at the start of the season that we should have pushed the boat out & bought an experienced championship striker but was told on here that it would be too expensive. Well we don't have a striker worthy of the name, what is it 3 goals so far from our strike force & if we end up getting relegated, our decent players will probably move on & so the whole rebuilding process will begin again.CAFC_boi said:TC, Leaburn, Docherty and Gillesphey all need to be dropped. If we’re sentimental we’ll be back in league one. Also, Mannion can’t be any worse than Kaminski.
Owners need to get their cheque book out now for January otherwise we’re doomed.

Play a system that suits your players available. Give youth a chance if senior players are carrying injuries.
Dont concede 2 goals within 10 minutes.2 -
We're going to lose a lot of games in this league and have some hard times. But we've had a good start, so I'm not going to get too carried away at this point.
NJ has to find a way to stop the rot. I'm not sure starting Luke Berry was the answer today. I don't get how his inclusion helped anything. We'd have been better off playing Karoy and being harder to break down. Not that it would've lead to a different result.
It's time to go back to basics. There are holes all over the pitch and a lot for the coaching staff to solve before Saturday. But solutions are definitely needed.

They took their foot off the gas, simple. We were still there for the taking.aso914 said:How are we conceding multiple goals within minutes in the first half to conceding zero in the second half two games in a row? I know teams might take their foot off the gas if they’re up by multiple goals but it’s a bit frustrating imagine if we kept it tight at halftime like we normally do.0 -
I get that we have massive injury problems but my concern is that we are woeful all over the pitch now that our defence is wobbling.
The midfield are just grafters with no pace or craft about them.
Attack wise we cannot hold the ball up so it just keeps coming back at us and we have no attempts on goal other than hump-ball and set plays.
Hopefully we've got enough to stay up but am starting to worry now?0 -
You have to feel for the likes of @RedChaser and @bobmunro given the horrific journeys they had tonight.

Sometimes the scorelines don't tell the whole story. That fluke opening goal was a disaster for our confidence and game plan, while the 3rd was an inexplicable mistake. xG isn't everything, but it can sometimes be telling, as to how well a team has played.SDAddick said:Don't let the highs get you too high and the lows too low.
Fact of the matter is we conceded three goals to a .38 xG in that first half. When your luck is out, it's out.
The final xG for this game was Stoke 0.72 Charlton 0.18, showing that while we were toothless, Stoke didn't actually create that much, they only had 4 shots on target, but are superb at the back.
Southampton on Saturday was a far worse team performance. In that game Kaminski kept the score down, with Southampton having 8 shots on target.3 -
We are on the same points/games as we were in 2019 when we went down.Valley11 said:First goal was a fluke. Second was a foul on Jones in the build up. Third was an abomination but game was gone.
We have to stick with this team. They’ve given us an incredible 12 months.
They’re not a bad team overnight.
I really hope the fanbase have a bit of class and pick the boys up when they’re down, not whinge like spoilt children at the first sign of a bad run. Please, everyone have some perspective and a bit of loyalty to the cause.COYRsYes, let’s all stay calm.3 -

It would have been had I gone on the coach with the locals. I was offered a ticket in the home end but couldn’t trust myself to sit on my hands for the whole match 😉.ElfsborgAddick said:You have to feel for the likes of @RedChaser and @bobmunro given the horrific journeys they had tonight.0 -
It's a very poor run, but it's to be expected at some point. We are a newly promoted team with a bottom 5 budget (maybe bottom 2) budget, having to build a Championship ready squad quickly over the summer. And clearly not all those signings have come off, leaving us badly affected by injuries.
This was always going to be a nasty month, and a bit of a wake up call as to how competitive this league is.

Oh well that’s it then let’s just stop now, because that obviously means exactly the same is going to happen again. Yes calm down!!.Valiantphil said:

AFKABartram said:Painful evening, we’re in a sticky patch and whilst Jones is a religious man, the football gods are clearly not with us at the moment.
Cool heads required. Spells like this show whether you’ve a good tight knit group or not.Keep the faithIt's posts like this that show why you are the guvnor here.Jones has stuck to a system since he has been here and it has brought results. We got off to a flyer and that got fans excited, we were always going to have a bad spell, all teams do.My only reservation is the fact that we are now leaking goals and the forwards contine to not score goals, although it is very difficult when so few chances are created. Should that continue and I see no evidence of that changing then we will almost certainly be a bottom six side for the majority of the season. The fans need to stick with the players and Jones, Jones has been fantastic for us.

Not sure which thread to post this on but I will try here .... when we loaned Alex Mitchell to Plymouth I posted that we should have kept him for cover and just got lolled.
I stand by it- we should have kept him for cover.

Don't concede 4 in 12 minutes either.

The injuries are really hurting us. We especially miss Bell, Edwards and Burke not to mention Godden. We just have no strength in depth. We could do with 2 or 3 quality additions in January but our main aim is to stay up. I think we will have enough to do that. And today Kaminski was the least of our problems.1

Think it is slightly disappointing and quite disrespectful to fans who traveled thst the club hasn’t even put a post out thanking them for their support yet. Doesn’t change the result but it would be nice for them to be appreciated.1

Start of the season = Ipswich, Southampton, Leicester, Sheff Utd, Middlesborough & Coventry, we probably struggle to live with. Now = We’ve got 2 wins from 4 of those fixtures. Better than expected!!Our season is about being better than 3 of Sheff Wed, Norwich, Oxford, Swansea, Portsmouth & Blackburn. We’ve got 2 wins and 1 draw from 3 of those fixtures. Right on track!!We’ve shown more than enough to prove we can compete, pick up wins at home and points away against the rest.Nothing has changed! We’re just playing the teams we didn’t expect to live with in a block of 6 games.Positives: We’ll hopefully get players back from injuries for the matches we really need our best squad for. 18th is top of our mini league of 7. Southampton & Stoke is not our race.8

We've had a way better start to the season than almost anyone expected.
Two very tough games and almost certainly another in Saturday but Bell should be back and that will hopefully start to see the defence regain some shape and confidence again.
My real concern is the money spent in the summer is looking like poor business so far. We need to stick together, dig in and grind out some points again.
Stay up this season and slowly build, just like (dare I say it) Millwall have managed in recent seasons.
Onwards and upwards.

What was kamikaze doing for those 1st and 3rd goals no keeper should be beaten from there. Uphill after that. Confidence looks shot. Good turnout for those that went. Going to Coventry Saturday, not booked back till the 19.13, could be spending a few hours looking round Coventry.1

With no potency in attack, the defence is under constant pressure not to concede.
A majority of the 8 goals conceded in the last 2 games, have come from the wings.
We need to go back to a back 4 and bring in some energy into the midfield and attack.
Anderson and Oloafe should have started today. TC and Docherty badly need to be rested.
Jones could and should have been more proactive and less loyal to certain players.2 -
Do we think that NJ lack of wanting loan players has killed us a little right now? I always want youth players coming through and doing well, but can’t help but think if we had 1/2 more experienced players we may be in a better position2
