Of course I saw the post, that's why I was asking what happened to them, as the Belles in particular used to be in the women's premier league, and I'm sure when the Bees were actually Barnet they were higher up the pyramid than now0

In March 2010 Barnet F.C. Ladies were announced as an unsuccessful bidder for the FA Women's Super League. In 2013, they were successful in their bid to join the WSL under their new name of London Bees for the 2014 season.
In the 2016 FA WSL summer season, London Bees became the first WSL 2 club to reach the semi-finals of the FA WSL Cup, after notable wins against Chelsea Ladies on penalties and Sheffield Ladies in their quarter-final fixture. They were later defeated in the semi-final by Birmingham City Ladies.
In the 2020–21 season, London Bees finished bottom of the Championship and were relegated to the third tier of English women's football.
In the 2024–2025 season, London Bees finished fourth in the FA Women's National League Division One South East, the fourth tier of English women's football.

The club began in 1975 as District Line Ladies FC, then merged with Wembley FC in 1993 to become Wembley Ladies FC. In 1996 Wembley won the League Cup by defeating Doncaster Belles. In 1997 Wembley reached the FA Women's Cup final after defeating Arsenal in the semi-final. However they were unable to beat Millwall Lionesses and lost 1-0 at the Boleyn Ground. In 1997 the club moved to play at Hanwell Town FC but kept the Wembley Ladies name. In 1998, the club became affiliated with Barnet FC, amalgamating with the existing Barnet Ladies FC from the Greater London League to form Barnet FC Ladies.

Bees are in the fourth tier nowadays, quite a drop from where they used to be. I can't imagine it will have helped having Spurs sharing at The Hive for a few years so they weren't even the biggest women's team at their own ground.
As far as I'm aware Bees having dropped down that far is just a case of budget cuts and it being very hard to get back up when each division only promotes one club. Doncaster have been regular victims of the FA stopping them playing at as higher level as they'd earned on the pitch, compounded by being right on the border between the midlands and the north in terms of how the tier 4 leagues are structured, so they've been moved about a bit. That really doesn't help when you're an amateur club and your players can just leave if they don't fancy the travelling after a change of divisions.
The structure below our level is two premier divisions in the National League at tier 3, then 4 regional division 1s, south-east, south-west, midlands and north, at tier 4. Below that are 8 regional leagues which have either 2 or 3 lower divisions per leagues, and that's tiers 5 and 6.2 -

Back when women's season tickets went on sale it was announced that home FA Cup tickets will be half price for women's ST holders.
There are two Watford clubs; the one we've been drawn against is the familiar one who are up at the top of tier 3 and were in our division a couple of years ago. They are Watford FC Women and are part of the familiar Watford FC. The other lot are Watford Ladies FC who are amateur and play at tier 5. It confuses the heck out of the FA's FullTime league system.
Watford v Saltdean United will have a second attempt at playing this coming Sunday after being off due to waterlogging at the non-league ground Watford borrow. There would need to be another couple of postponements before there was any issue with the date of our game.0 -

The women's team formerly known as Leyton Orient, now known as Athletico London and before that London Seaward after having their connection with Orient severed and having to share elsewhere, definitely wouldn't agree that it didn't affect them. Boreham Wood have done extremely well out of their ties with Arsenal, but then Arsenal FC Women effectively are Boreham Wood's women's team.2 -

Telegraph are reporting that next season the League Cup will be all change. No Champions League teams at all and instead of groups there will be a Swiss model like the mens Champions League. All the teams in one table and you play a set number of fixtures0

Interesting idea. I imagine the Champions League teams won't really miss it (how much do Chelsea players care about a competition they only had to play three games to win last season?), but there might be the issue of how the League Cup will be perceived without the top teams. Assuming it would mean more games for us, it seems like a good thing.0 -
I just don't understand why they don't do it in a similar format to the mens League Cup. I know it would be a much shorter competition but that's fine, they don't need to make the mistakes of the men's game and have an overcrowded calendar0

Isn't the issue that for some teams there aren't enough games, rather than too many? When you only have 22 league games a season, that's plenty of free weekends, even with a later start to the season than in the men's game and with the international breaks, with the result that you can play at least some of the League Cup games on weekends. If we had the same format as the men's League Cup, we could get knocked out in the first round of both cups and only end up playing 24 games all season. Obviously I'm not a professional footballer so I can't judge what the right workload is, but my guess is that our players would want to, or at least be happy to, play more than that.0

That's a fair point. Kind of in a tricky scenario where the leagues just need to be bigger but that requires standards to improve. Means you get weird stopgap formats like the League Cup to fill the gaps0

The FA website (and therefore Google search) says the Watford FA Cup game will be a 1pm kickoff. I suspect that's just the default time, because a lot of the smaller clubs may not have lights and can't kick off at 2 if the game might need extra time. Timing will be confirmed by the club as & when.
Update: The Watford game has just appeared on the fixture list, but not yet the ticket site - indicated kickoff time is the usual 2pm.2
