    McClaren out
At least it gives someone else a chance to be a play-off hero for them.

Strange appointment in the first place but whoever comes in has very little time to stamp their mark on them.  Playoffs will be fun in March
  • I’ll start … Curbs 14/1 😉

Play all the cafc lads and build the team around them. Qualification will take care of itself.

A f***ing disgrace Jamaica did not qualify against that level of opposition. I suspect McClaren bears a lot of the blame.

At least Campbell, Anderson and Dixon are young enough to have another try in four years time. Bell sadly not.

I don't suppose Charlton F C are too sad about it.

Considering we get paid by FIFA if our players go to the World Cup I imagine that yes, they, the money men at least, are a bit sad.

And they can still qualify via the play-offs.

Realistically they’re not beating DR Congo
  • Jamaica always underperforms in Concacaf even though historically they have had one  of the better rosters on paper in the confederation.  They should be better than the likes of Panama, Honduras and Trinidad and Tobago but they always end up being behind them in the end.  Too much tiki taka possession play with no cutting edge or end product. Add the fact that they hired McClaren who played a number of aging past their prime players,  it is no wonder they struggled. Only chance against Congo is to play very defensively and hope their opponent makes a mistake leading to a goal.

Might avoid them in the draw today. 50:50 chance. Ideally they get New Caledonia in the semi final and then Iraq in the final

JFF sound like a mess. Players having to cover their own upgrades to business class and having to take convoluted routes with multiple changes. That can’t be good for recovery

Ooh, that's a swanky kit. Might treat myself and my daughter to one of those to wear this summer, if they qualify, and get Campbell on the back.

My 10-year-old daughter took a real shine to TC, for some reason, when I flew her home for the playoff final last May. She loves his song. She seems to have thing for the black boys as her favourite gladiator is Nitro, too!

TC, Amari'i Bell and Karoy Anderson in the squad but no Dixon. The interim coach is very hot on his players playing first team football

First match v New Caledonia in Mexico on Friday, March 27th (KO 3am GMT). If they win that they play DR Congo on Tuesday, March 31st (KO 10pm BST) . If they qualify ,  they'll be in group K against Portugal,  Uzbekistan and Colombia.

I think the Dixon experiment has failed sadly . Probably best for his career to go back and play in Jamaica unless we can get a fee for him from a league two side ?

Kids still incredibly young and was a cheap punt. Give him another year on loan, what’s the harm

He was but he’s here now and he seems like a good kid who works hard and I think the club should do right by him

This. We took him out if Jamaica and shoved him into the deep end where ebb the kids his age have had years of experience with coaches, professionals and controlled diets and regimes and the with a struggling team. His raw talent was always going to need a few years of catch up with all that. Not persevering with his transition now would be plain daft. We just need to find the right fit of club and coaching for him to go out on loan to, not one that does t really know what to do with him.

And he wasn’t signed as just some random punt, he was breaking records in his home country and one of their youngest to be capped at senior level.

I actually think sending him to a highly technical league like the Dutch second division would be an excellent loan for him, which is exactly the kind of thing Arsenal and Chelsea have historically done with their technically gifted but less physical young talents.

I’d give him another loan but realistically he’s never going to make it at Charlton, if we can get a fee for him now or next summer than fantastic but it was a low risk punt and hasn’t come off no real harm done

Interesting idea with Dutch league, didn’t know that’s what the premier league clubs do.

Sounds good on paper, my only issue would be moving him to yet another country. That may not be a good development for him outside of football. You’d imagine by now, he has made some good friends in England, and would be better to keep him around them as he develops with u21s or another nearby loan.

“Experiment has failed” and “realistically he’s never going to make it at Charlton”. To be blunt, have some patience. He’s only 21, pretty inexperienced, has completely changed his way of life to try and be successful here.

In my opinion, it’s still too early to say he/we have failed and that he’s never going to be a decent player for us.
