Given what the service has been like recently I have little faith that tomorrow from Wrexham will go smoothly. Hope to be proved wrong.

Mute button at the bottom of the match screen?

I don’t know who’s responsible for production of our televised matches, and maybe I’m spoilt because we can watch every game on either Sky or Charlton TV, but it does seem like the quality of match coverage of our games is pretty poor - I’m constantly shouting “SHOW US THE GAME!” at the TV because there are numerous occasions every single game where the camera lingers for far too long on someone not involved in play (or sometimes the fans) while the game’s going on.
I’m pretty sure it doesn’t happen half as much in Premier League games either.
    Drives me potty.

Yeah, fair point. It’s been pretty flawless first half.

Pretty sure it's Sky's fault, as I've noticed similar issues with their coverage. And don't get me started on the replays...

At the risk of sounding like the old bloke I am, as in so much in life these days it feels like someone trying to justify their job. Trainee directors, or wannabe directors trying to put their stamp on the production by showing "moody" or "human interest" shots, hoping that Marvel studios is going to pick them up for the next Spiderman movie...

    Just-show-the-football!

    The stream worked fine yesterday.
So we know it is possible.

I watched the match from my phone in a bar in Milan. Good coverage but agree with Lordromford about the directors focusing on the managers/fans when the match is in progress.

It seems like someone at the club has been listening and full game replays are now being posted on the OS within a day of the game being played.

Saying that, just looked for the Wrexham game and it's not uploaded yet.

What I would like, though, is for the thumbnail for each match to exclude the final score!

I know we don't live in a "Likely Lads" world where people spend all day avoiding the TV or radio (or, in these days, the interwebby thingamajig) so that they can watch the match (highlights) later without knowing the score but there are occasions where that scenario might arise.

For example, if you're away on holiday and not able to watch the game live, either because the time difference makes it very difficult or you're doing something more enjoyable, you might want to watch the game a day or so later when it's more convenient. What you don't want is to get onto the Full Match Replays page (bookmarked so that you can go straight there without having to see any details on the website or app), find the link to the coverage only to be smacked around the chops with the score before you've even opened it up!

I watch the Aussie Rules during the year on the WatchAFL app/website and that's very good in hiding the scores, even on the in-progress matches, so that you can watch them "as live" without knowing the result.

  • Isn't it about time that "someone" at our club took responsibility for COMMUNICATING with the fans regarding the less than satisfactory service that they are paying good money for ?

Following yesterday's issues with the stream of the U21 match, I've made the decision to cancel my £7pm subscription - not an easy one as we enjoy the home games from the comfort of our own settee.

But yesterday was the final straw.

Who should I contact to find out what was going on when my stream (and I believe that of other Lifers ) had reached a few minutes' coverage before stopping ? Refreshing merely started the match again & up to those afore mentioned minutes before stopping...ad infinitum. NO number to call to find out what was going on & from a previous experience, I knew that the email listed as charltontv@streamang.com would not receive a response the same day...Ah, maybe our Supporter Liaison Officer, listed as Isabelle Rogerson could help by directing me to someone who would answer the phone & ideally give some immediate assistance !

    Silly Fanny !

No phone number/extension ? No response...well not for urgent queries . And still no response from Isabelle thus far. Oh, but Isabelle now works in a different department , I was told today ! Hmmm....

Those of us that use/d this service found out for ourselves that no home U21 matches are streamed if the 1st team are playing that evening....No-one bothered to make an addition to " What you can watch" , and I don't believe the narrative on that page of the OS was amended for at least a further season.

As much as we are more than happy at what is happening on the pitch, and we like the BIG new screen & all the flashing adverts/messages around The Valley, shouldn't our CEO be listening to issues closer to home which affect the fans and, when not adequately addressed, can smoulder away until shoulders are shrugged and we grudingly accept that things aren't going to change ...which maybe is how "they" want it.

But then, of course we don't HAVE a CEO at our club !

Mutterings from fellow Addicks I know are that fings ain't wot they usta be behind the office walls. Issues with points being added to accounts when purchasing away match tickets, a friend being told at the Ticket Office that the VE coach he wanted to book a place on didn't service Gravesend which he knew wasn't true but gave up in the end and even today, Charlton 2025 Poppy badges advertised on the site for £5 when purchased at the Club Shop inc via cash , turned out to be £6 today with NO cash accepted....Maybe looked at alone, these are merely annoying , but if taken as a worrying trend which doesn't seem to improve, then someone, somewhere in SE7 needs to sit up & take notice.

But who IS that person ?

    Answers on a postcard, please.
    Fanny update !

As stated above, I duly ticked the "cancel" button on my subscription account & thought, that saving will just about pay for a large  glass of the pink stuff at the next home match.

But what do I know ?

This morning I logged on to find an email thanking me for my £7 for the coming month's "AUDIO" pass until December 8th....

I immediately emailed back to say I'd cancelled last week....and at that point had been asked to complete another "survey" as to why I had decided to do so....This was to the  address on the "Congrats for renewing"  email - website@cafc.co.uk.

8 mins later, another email arrived ..."Thank you for your query. We will contact you as soon as possible ". This email was sent from "info@cafc.co.uk ".

    Nothing received since .

Anyone willing to take a bet on how long it will be for me to receive an apology & a refund of my £7 ?

And if there is no further response, any guesses who I might email this time for resolution of my issue ?

Fan Engagement ? Advisory Board ? Isabelle Rogerson ? ( Don't be a silly Fanny ! Another fan told you last week she's been head hunted by another dept at the club !) Too many cooks IMO.

FFS ! Appoint a CEO ASAP before the whole "infastructure " and perceived good communication between Club & fans completely breaks down !

( And still no response to my email re the wonderfully constructed surveys we receive ad infinitum ...How long will it take for "someone" to realise that there's no " N/A " box ...and unless every single question is answered, the form won't allow you to "send it" ! DOH !!!!! This was to the email address at the top of the form ...)
