Three points, while missing five first-team players. What a different feeling and impact on the league table compared to drawing three in a row.

Our central midfielders need to deliver better with the ball. At one point, it seemed they were more intent on passing to the new floodlights than to our players' feet. NJ gave them a rollicking from the sideline.

Jones was immense, and Fullah lit the game up. Alongside Carey, he showed bravery on the ball alongside great skill and vision to impact the game positively.

Both Brener and Friedman there tonight with over 20 guests they had invited.
It looked like all their guests had been bought identical Charlton scarves to wear.
They all looked to be having a great time especially when that winning goal went in.
Would say they definitely have the Charlton bug now and was delighted to see their joy and celebrations at the end of the match.
What a difference it makes to have owners who actually attend the games and develop a love for the club, long may it continue.
That’s very encouraging imo if a club has owners that truly get the bug and if the owners have the funds there is a good chance things develop into interesting times
Their investment seems to be paying off nicely just now.
I heard that they were looking at buying Zynex shares, before deciding on Charlton instead.

Does anyone know if a Nathan Jones team has ever beaten Man City? 🤣🤣

Was Doc getting an earful from NJ at the end for the penalty? For taking it?

My god, that ground come alive at the end, didn’t it?

Fantastic, no better feeling. Celebrations better than Knibbs last min one at start of season.

    We’re on the waaaaaaaay….

Anyone who thought we played terrible must have been living in a shoe for the last 6 years

    I've just read that:

Greg Docherty has never scored a penalty in open play or a shoot-out during his senior professional career.

10/10 for bravery, but never again please.

A quite wonderful last minute winner from Sonny Carey - the man is a source of undiluted joy !

I thought that West Brom were better than us in the first half, dominating midfield and possession, but creating very little in the final third. The only time I felt remotely threatened was when Price got through on the right but screwed his shot wide. For our part, there were far too many long, hopeful balls sent up towards Leaburn and Campbell, most of which were comfortably picked up by the opposition. The Doc’s penalty miss was unfortunate but it would, in truth, have been an undeserved lead.

I thought we improved in the second half, although Kaminski had to beat away a dangerous shot shortly after the break. We gradually managed to get more of a foothold in the game and Sonny served notice of what was coming with a fine effort from distance, which the goalie managed to deflect over.

The introduction of the very impressive Fullah and Knibbs posed some fresh questions for the West Brom defence and that was a clever tactical switch from Nathan However, the game looked for all the world to be petering out to a draw until Sonny’s moment of magic.

A shout out to our defenders, particularly Lloyd Jones and Ramsey, whilst Hernandez also acquitted himself very well on his full debut.

The win puts us on 23 points with less than a third of the season gone - an outcome at this stage that even the most optimistic of Lifers could scarcely have dreamed of.

  • Not sure if I’m right with this but should the pen have been retaken? First player to clear the ball off docs head following the save was encroaching if you look at the sky sports highlights.  Shit pen nonetheless. Great result.

    Im exhausted after that

I'm adamant sides are afraid of us the longer games go without us conceding.

West Brom have some really good players but what I live about football is the ways it can be equalised, narrow defending and desire to win the ball. Set pieces, physicality and they matched us for that most of the game

Sonny Carey, I'm so happy he plays for us I was delighted we signed him as I definitely thought he was destined for bigger things and he is keeping a properly good player in Knibbs out.

    Anyway

Nothing profound to add. If you are in the fight in the 12th round you always have a punches chance. We are Johnny Nelson
  • Last time out in this league we won only 12 of 46 league games all season.

We have already won 6 of our first 14 games this year!

A game that was difficult to watch for long periods, especially in the first half.  WBA looked a lot sharper than us early on, especially in the opening 20 minutes. In possession we seemed to alternate between long balls that didn't find their man, or at least not in a way that they could be controlled, and a passing game that was slow, cautious and frequently inaccurate.  Consequently, our only real chance in the first half came from that rather naff penalty. We did defend well though and at different times each and every one of our defenders made challenges or blocks that might be described as game-saving.

In the second half we changed up a gear but it still didn't look like it would be enough until young Mr Fullah entered the scene and added a bit of sparkle to our attack. Cracking way to end the game though. Well done to Sonny Carey for giving us the much needed firepower, but also to the whole team who never gave up. Man of the match for me was Lloyd Jones though, an absolute colossus.

Well and truly gone are the recent days of drawing 1-1 with Cray Valley Paper Mills in the FA Cup, or wondering if we’d be able to cope without having May, Dobson & CBT in our team.

The amount of injuries we have right now to important players and yet we still have enough about us to go toe to toe with established Championship sides with larger budgets & players that they’ve spent millions more on and take points off them.

Even if we finish 21st from this position, we have sellable players worth £5m+ and we can reinvest into the squad to make us genuinely stronger & better for next season.

We’re coming up to the 1 year anniversary quite soon from when Crawley beat us at home & I remember I wanted Jones sacked that night after the game, but thank god I’m not one of our any of our owners - who I barely know any of the names of, and doubt I’d recognise them in the street because they don’t parade around the pitch with guitars or eat nice bread & drive range rovers.

It’s a genuinely fun & proud time to be a supporter of our club, and long may this journey continue.
They could well drive Range Rovers, or even be chauffeured round in the back of them.
Chances are that they won't get repossessed like Mouthall's was though.

Feels like Apter and JRC are getting phased out by Jones, so strange such excitment around JRC signing but he has barely played a minute.
I have no idea about JRC but there’s a player in Apter. He will get another chance
I don’t think they are being phased out. Apter is just unfortunate to be behind someone as talented as Bree, and JFC is not going to be brought on as a ‘game changer’, so unless we have an injury crisis in midfield he is going to have to wait his chance.
If Apter can't get ahead of Bree on Saturday he might as well put in a transfer request. Bree's dead ball delivery was woeful. 2 corners went low to the near post that were easily cleared (I do realise we then scored when it wasn't cleared well enough but the goal was all down to Carey) and another corner swung out of play before getting anywhere near their goal.

Bree is a shadow of the player that came into the team in Sept. Whether he's been told he will be recalled by Saints in Jan, or just going through a bad patch......but whatever it is he should be "rested" for Sat.
He put in a great performance a couple of games ago. I wouldn't write him off yet.

Before he goes off on one about Man City NJ says Henderson pushed for Fullah to play and did the same for TC previously. Love it

What a result and league table to wake up to!

Incredible! 5 league goals already for Carey is a phenomenal return.

Love that this group of players under Jones have no interest in settling for a point when the clock gets to 90.

Must be a great stat of how many points we've gained after 90 minutes in the past year. These boys just do it again and again.

Plenty of reasons to believe it will be different this time but we had also won 6 of our first 14 that season.

It was winning only 6 of the following 32 that killed us.
