He’s been terrible for them all season, sad to see such a nice lad struggling

That’s terrible. I don’t get how a pro player can air swing like that.

I always watch the goals/highlights and as said he really has been terrible every game.
I reckon he has or nearly has given away at least 1 goal every game.

I'll be amazed if he's there come February.

And to think some were clamouring for him to replace Docherty 🤣

In fairness, I think the other Plymouth defender gets a touch on it which means Wiredu’s swing doesn’t connect

To be completely fair to him (and those previously pushing for his signing) he is currently in about the worst form he's EVER been in. I was never particularly keen but I didn't think he'd be playing THIS badly.

Who was that? I don't remember anyone clamouring for Wiredu to directly replace Docherty, unless they were on a wind up?

I personally thought Wiredu would have been a good squad signing for his versatility. Still think right now he's simply made the wrong move as he is proven at League 1 level, he certainly wasn't this bad.

Amazed how badly Wiredu is doing currently, must be a confidence thing, as a player doesn't just suddenly turn this bad. Unfortunately now he's gonna be feeling the pressure big time.

Zero communication, they look like they run into each other, the Green Army aren’t happy at the moment.

This loan must be doing Mitchell the world of good 🤷🏻‍♂️
I keep my eye open in case I see him out n about just to give him some Charlton love.

Sounds like he’s having issues beyond his loan team playing badly. Hopefully things pick up for him
  • Plymouth have good players at that level. Maybe the finger should be pointed at the manager

Alex Mitchell must be doing well to not get picked in front of those two…

We have signed tons of players who have had awful starts. All it takes it a sliced first clearance and it can not get much better from there. Brendan Wiredu has been solid wherever he has played, wrong club, wrong time. I distinctly remember Eddie Youds first touch for us v Forest and he absolutely shanked one. He then went on to absolutely dominate Van Hooijdonk and have the career he did for us. Sliding doors/sliced clearance moments

Scott Sinclair looked like the whole concept of football was new to him when we had him, was excellent everywhere else he went

Shows what a confidence game football is. He's nowhere near as bad as his performances this season are showing. Sometimes players just don't suit clubs, and it is looking like this is the case at the minute unfortunately.

Simon Francis springs to mind. Ended up playing 136 games in the PL and is now technical director for the side currently sitting in second place in the top tier. Perhaps he was better and knew more about the game than us CAFC supporters thought. Hopefully Wiredu's confidence will be restored in the same way.

League 2 to championship is a huge jump, Wiredu would have been a terrible signing for us. Being versatile is useful, but not if you’re not up to the level in any of the positions you play.

I’m sure he will end up a league 1 player in future, but I think he will be back in league 2 soon and have to work his way back up again probably

Reza convinced me that, at age 33, I might still play for Charlton Athletic

THIS - Was so so bad for us, can't believe he managed to have a career in the PL.

Yes, the Plymouth manager said after the Exeter game (i think) that they weren't sure whether AM was going to be available or in the right frame of mind. Been back and forth to London recently due to family issues. Hope everything is okay.

I cant imagine Brendan has overly enjoyed his time down at Plymouth, since being racially abused by Plymouth fans in his first game or simply being sent off... If he does leave before February, am sure it'll be pretty mutual.

Wiredu has over 80 games in League 1 and only 10 shy of his League 2 90+. He is a player that has performed at this level.

He's had Championship interest in the past, and plenty of League 1. The fact Plymouth picked him up as a newly relegated side shows his quality.

I just think he's having a disaster. It happens in football.

Still annoys me that his name is wrong in the thread. He doesn't use the Sarpong and doesn't like it, he prefers Brendan Wiredu

Using his full name because he’s been naughty.

They were creaming themselves when they announced Cleverly. 'Best manager in the league' and all that
