QPR were happy to sell Kelman to us in the summer.

The Fotmob ratings are interesting, as they show that none of our strikers have done the business this season, and all feature on page 2 of the Charlton rankings. But Kelman is bottom, reflecting his lack of impact on games.

This is the possession won  in the final 3rd stat per 90. Even on that stat he's well behind Miles and Tanto.

Luckily stats don’t mean shit until you use them as a stick to beat players with, Kelman has scored one less than our other strikers. People can see with their own eyes that there is work to do, but can also see it is an improving working process that has us sitting in sixth. At this stage I’m more than happy with that because I know we will get better, it’s what NJ’s teams do. As others have said judge properly at the end of the season.
Of course stats mean something, as they give a better picture of the overall contribution a player is making . And I deliberately didn't mention goals, as clearly none of our strikers would look good on that criteria.

Possession won  in the final 3rd shows how effective strikers are in doing the dirty work of hassling and challenging defenders, and winning the ball back in dangerous areas. Looking up these numbers

    Kelman 4
    Tanto 4
    TC   6
    Miles  12

    Or Recoveries

    Kelman 13
    Tanto 13
    TC   21
    Miles  22

Suggest that even on the workrate and harrying side, it isn't obvious that Kelman is more effective than our other options.
But who gives a shit about stats if the team wins, stats don’t win games. We can all pick a stat to suit a narrative. Just watch the bloody game, enjoy if we win great, if we lose ..so what there’s always next week.

In a minority here, but I think Kelman has looked decent. His link up play is intelligent and he makes decent runs dragging defenders all over the place. He just isn't doing what I expected him to do... definitely needs to start scoring soon, but don't think he looks like a dud in the slightest
  • Think he just needs a goal. Can’t get the negativity of some on here towards Leaburn working hard and causing problems. I am fully aware that none of our strikers are excelling at the moment but all work hard and are showing enough for me to think that they will all continue to improve and that the goals will come.

Gets more shots off so will score more on average, Kelman is neither shooting or getting in shooting positions, according to that.

Hardly surprising, one thing his doubters and supporters agree on is Kelman not getting in the box enough as hes chasing around outside of it.

Also couple of notes for those who wont look too closely

    1. This is ranking SHOT PLACEMENT from the PENALTY BOX and not shots in general*
    2. Thats not our Campbell, its the Sheff United one

    3. The guy hasn't said how placement % is measured which would be nice, but more for boring stat, data people.

    * The general spot graph is available, it bumps Kelman up ever so slightly.
