I gave up after the first couple of series. Good idea, Just thought it got a bit silly4

I can't see the point of it.
They are meant to be "hiding" yet they ring up the hunters to tell them where they are.
The celebrities in Hunted even go on live TV and radio - bloody ridiculous & contrived.1 -
Yeah first one or two seemed a bit more unscripted/less contrived, got very samey and daft after that.AFKABartram said:I gave up after the first couple of series. Good idea, Just thought it got a bit silly0 -
It's like none of the contestants have watched previous series, and learnt from the mistakes or successes.Basically they just need to stay off the open internet and contacting friends plus stay on the canal network and use a push bike.5

It’s crap. My wife insists on still watching it though. So edited and completely fake.0

Just grab a tent, a bike and hit the countryside. Plenty of farm shops and stuff that are cash only and don't have CCTV to "tap into", so you can go completely dark pretty easily.1

Thought this thread was going to be about Petr Čech.0

As long as you don't take it too seriously and just see it as entertainment it's ok.Greenhithe said:It’s crap. My wife insists on still watching it though. So edited and completely fake.0 -
we think it has got worse. clearly they must have to do certain things like go to/near home but the audience isn't made aware if the conditions they participants have to adhere toCovered End said:I can't see the point of it.

There's a load of rules in place that make it harder for the contestants. You can't just go off grid, they make you come back to populated areas (with CCTV), otherwise everyone would do this and it would be extremely boring TV. You also have to keep moving, you can't just hole up somewhere random where they won't find you. They limit card withdrawals so you can't just withdraw once at the start and have enough money to get through. Also they stipulate you have return to close allies/family/home area at least once (I did always wonder why pairs that seemed to be so switched on and playing the game well would make a stupid decision to go home/contact a family member when they had no need to, so this makes sense). Also if you're doing too well and evading surveillance for too long, the camera crew will let HQ know when they enter the next town/village and they'll say they've just had a CCTV hit on that pair/individual.It's also heavily edited to make better TV. I.e. when the contestants visit one of their contacts, or the hunters have a lead on someone's whereabouts, they often make it look like the hunters were seconds/minutes behind the contestants and they got a lucky escape, when actually it may be hours or even days apart.4

This is the key, but something this place is often incapable of doing. It's a laugh and it's relatively entertaining. The Aussie one is really fun because they really enjoy playing with the hunters. Really it's just a big game of hide and seek when you take out the pretence of being "on the run"CaptainRobbo said:

It's almost like it's a show made for television and not a real manhunt.Big C said:sam3110 said:Just grab a tent, a bike and hit the countryside. I mean, how difficult can it be to find someone running around all day with a camera crew in tow?4 -
That's how I viewed Charlton under Appleton, just a bit of entertainment..... Oh.fenaddick said:

I still enjoy it, despite knowing how they film it and tutting every time they just happen to get CCTV footage from a remote place in seconds.
Having said that, it was only when I was looking at the TV guide last night that we realised the new series was already half way through. We probably wont bother tbh. It is very samey now but in its defence, its nice easy tv to watch where you don't have to engage your brain after a long day

I ued to like it, then the arrests got more and more contrived, either people being absolutely stupid or being undone by more and more outlandish coincidences. I also grew to dislike the hunters more and more as their confidence morphed into arrogance. At the point I gave up I was willing for some more action at the arrest stage. I have loved someone to shout, "you'll never take me alive, copper" before smashing seven bells out of them.3
