Age Gaps

My father at 58 had a partner 43. Never lived together, but spend 6 nights a week together at his or hers. She had two daughters who over the years treated my Dad like a father. All good until at 75 my dad was aging in health, and early dementure signs. He didn’t want to go out much or holidays anymore. She was a fit healthy 60 and wanted to live a life. She basically called my sister and said your Dads going to need more support from you. With that she stepped back from their relationship and the visits became phone calls. She never completely abandoned him, but was close. Even in his later confused state, he brought a tear to my eye when said to me “ Me and Joan aren’t the same anymore are we son”.It’s only later in life, that the gap causes problems, and understandably so.3

My wife is thirteen years younger than me.
Been married 34 years now & I'm now 79.
She's a Latino, luckily I've got young genes!
Still love the Latino party's & dancing.1 -
I’m 15 years older than my wife. Everything is great so far. I’m now 70 and we’ve been together for 20 years so I think I’m a keeper!
Interestingly, to me anyway, my major relationships have been me 10 years younger when I was in my 20s and then same age for my first marriage of 25 years and now me being older.0 -
Ex was 8 years younger than me, after 7 years binned me off for a bloke 9 years older than me. Surely not a pound note involved. Happily moved on from that in no small thanks to my friends and fellow fans4

I should probably add my father in law to this as the expert on age gaps. He's 77, 78 in November. His 'current' girlfriend (there's been a few in the past 25 years) is 58.........Only to be topped about 15 years ago just before he retired so around 63. He brought round for dinner 'the lady from HR' she was less than a year older than me at the time, 39! My wife (his daughter) was not overly impressed to see 'step mum' being literally weeks older than her

11 years between me (70) and my wife. The gap has never been a problem and some on here will have seen that we recently completed walking the 800 kms Camino Frances route together, so general health and fitness is not a factor. However, I am beginning to suffer from problems with arthritis in an ankle, so am looking to see what can be done about that in order we can continue to be active together.1

How on earth did you both cope with that?Rob7Lee said:I should probably add my father in law to this as the expert on age gaps. He's 77, 78 in November. Did you know the lady from HR was your age before the father in law turned up with her?
I can only imagine how your wife felt!

I'm 51 and the wife is 43 - don't notice the age gap in the slightest until something on the TV makes me say 'I remember that' and she just looks at me blankly1
