Which is midnight here, perfectly timed with winter temperatures arriving, great excuse to stay indoors for days

Looking forward to any feedback on our data, I think it’s in a good place but sure there will be some things I’ve missed or that are up for debate.

It’s not going too well according to Twitter. Lots of crashes and when it does work, people moaning about the UI.

Whole point of a beta is to find last minute crashes and bugs really, though I'm not sure there's much they can change between now and 4th November

Fair enough on the bugs but the UI is getting slated and from the videos I’ve seen, it doesn’t feel like FM. Almost looks like a game made for Consoles and Mobiles.

It's ok. I just typed in "Football Manager 2026" and it is letting be install something. I just hope I don't have to buy a new computer.

Definitely going to take some getting used to. It’s a lot of info on what will be a relatively small screen for most

Only odd things that have jumped out are Anderson, Kanu and Mbick being in the U21's and Bree being totally unskilled as a winger in possession (but I'm assuming that was done by the Southampton data person)

Played around on it for 2-3 hours what I will say it’s very difficult to get a hang of. Just so much going on and quite difficult to find what you need. Bookmarks are going to be ur best friend in feeling any sort of control over the huge number of sections. The scouting/transfers and tactics is manageable enough although is it’s impossible to build a good backroom staff with wording rather than numbers. The No.1 issue though is in the tactics screen without pressing numerous tabs it’s impossible to know a players best role in and out of possession as well as how they compare to other players. Eg Can no longer drag Macca over bell when switching them in and out of team and see their specific attributes for the role to know who’s the better player

This isn't a beta though, them calling it that is a piss take. A beta is done months before release where testers push systems to see if they break, this is early access, which they've always had since at least FM 2012. They've released it on schedule but just called it an 'Advanced Access Beta' to cover for the fact it's also unfinished. The idea of consumers paying to play the game early and be used as guinea pigs for a broken product is one of the absolute worst changes in gaming over the years, and given that they've had two years to put this game together after stiffing the consumer base at the last minute in the previous year, it's genuinely shocking that they're rolling out a dodgy product two weeks early and asking paying customers to point to where it's broken. I'm sure it will slowly lumber into being a bit better somewhere between January and March but it's not the triumphant return they needed after missing an entire year of income. On the plus side, it might mean the end of Miles Jacobson and his inability to communicate like a normal human being leaking through into the player interactions.

It is mad that after two years they've released a game still so full of bugs. Some of it will be that expectation is high but they could have managed that. I actually quite like a lot of the mechanics. In game stuff is better (even if I do miss touchline shouts), the 2D map between highlights is a real improvement. Some of the UI just leaves weird blank space and things don't flow as well as they should.
  • Sports interactive getting absolutely slaughtered on social media for this. Apparently some menus aren’t even fully finished and artwork not aligned properly. An absolute mess.

is this the end of football manager?

Not a chance. Football Manager IS the market for a management sim and it is decades in credit. I think the dodgy interface won't even really hit sales that badly, they'll still clean up, the question is whether it will meet projections after the missed year. They've spent the past 4 or 5 iterations not even changing anything and the fanbase, myself included, have eaten it up and enjoyed it in spite of its faults. I think they're on rocky ground here because there's a difference between not really changing much every year and completely redoing it but badly, but I think the most that will happen is Jacobson being moved on after two years of disappointment. I think that would be a good thing, the game has been too focused on incremental changes to the match engine rather than updating interactions that have been the same since 2018 and someone coming in and shifting the focus to freshen that kind of stuff up would be good.
There's no way FM won't continue on though, the real fear is that it releases in two weeks still broken and unfinished and that doesn't even dent their sales targets, that means we're getting this half-arsery forever.

Having had a look at the trailer, I'm wondering, does the authentic broadcast mode include bloody annoying replays that overruns the match action restarting? Or is that a bit too authentic?

Squads are decided by the game based on players ratings. I think Anderson is due to the size of our senior squad, might be solved by a small boost, but wouldn't want to make him too good.

With Kanu and Mbick out on loan it's less of an issue.

Bree has a low rating for AMR, which I had added after his first few games. Didn't want to go too high and arguably we're playing more of a standard 3-5-2 now where he's very much a WB than a winger.

Kelman scoring goals from a TC assist, so unrealistic.

Feel like I want to start Ibby Fullah ahead of TC based on their stats so perhaps Ibby is a bit overrated, or TC underrated?

Played on Friday for one hour…that turned into four. The amount of clicks to find things is quite annoying, and quite overly complicated to find basic things sometimes. As someone else said here, bookmarks will be your best friend.

TC has the higher CA, his acceleration and pace eat up a lot of that, so players like him look weaker in other areas.

TC is a funny one to rate. Covered End comparing him to Lisbie in the post match thread was a good comparison - we get chances when he’s on the pitch, but it’s not really reflected in his goals and assists. I wouldn’t want to rate TC too much higher and him end up being a goal and assist machine in the game.

Our strikers are all rated fairly similarly overall which feels right to me, as none them are guaranteed starters.

Another way of dealing with it could be via his consistency rating - is TC one of our better players, but very inconsistent, or one of our weaker players, but vey consistent? I went somewhere in the middle, but there’s probably a good argument to go closer to the former.

I've found the biggest bug of all.
