Should be ok to play Saturday once he's picked the splinters out of his arse.
You don't have anything nice to say about a single Charlton player, do you?

I assume you have a padded seat as you spend your hours/days typing out your grumbles on Charlton Life 🙄

Perfect scenario really, he gets the recognition he deserves with a call up, but he doesn't get injured or tired because he doesn't play and therefore we aren't hindered

When we're in the Premier League we'll have someone to pick the splinters out for him.

Doesn't play telling forward passes, I heard...

Was not at his best in the first half (not that anyone else was) but probably his best Championship performance to date in the second.

Two gorgeous passes that got Carey and TC in behind the Ipswich backline. Critical in both goals that were scored.

I was pleased to see him try some more difficult longer balls in the hope of getting us behind their defence or into space out wide. He’s excellent defensively and keeps possession well, but I’ve always felt he’s got the ability to be more ambitious in his passing.
It's good to see him playing some incisive passes on Saturday. I don't think it's unfair to say that he could have benefited from improvement in that area. But Dobson improved a lot during his time with us, and no reason Coventry can't. Hopefully, Saturday is a sign.

I don't think there's any Charlton fan of sound mind who'd swap Dobson in for Coventry

I don't know, Leuth... You come across some really wild opinions on this site. I can think of a few I've seen over the years ;)

I wouldn't swap but Dobson is a fine player. I think they are close but Coventry has a higher ceiling. The republic of Ireland must have a fine side if he isn't in it. Oh wait a minute, they are shite! He should be getting games for them.

Dobson vs Docherty is a harder call. Again I'd stick with Doch, but Dobson (who is a far more technical player) could grow into that sort of leader figure

Ireland's strength, insofar as they have strength, is unfortunately in Coventry's exact position

Doch looked a bit behind the pace but has now found his form and is intrisic to our team. Anderson is a great prospect and can't even get on the bench. Our strength in depth is underated. A player as good as Apter can't get in the side. I could go on.

In the last game, had Ireland been winning by more than one game, I think it would have got some minutes. The dentist wasn’t prepared to gamble on him with the game being so close.

Dobson is a great player who as I suspected has adapted well to life in league one.

Personally think he is at least as good as the Doc , but feel Coventry will offer more in time. Always a minor legend in my book, who carried a shit team, time after time. The booing of him last year still wrankles.

I haven't watched Dobson this season, but stats-wise, he seems to be doing very well in the Champ.

I said beginning of the season i would prefer to Doc, although i do think Doc has picked up of late and is holding his own, Dobson is more the complete player for me. I agree Coventry is so under-rated, he is class and will be one of the first names on the sheet.

How good is Conor becoming btw

His passes to the assisters were so clever (admittedly TC one was a bit overcooked)

He does get booked a bit, which I am hoping he can work on, but you rarely see him make an error with the ball. Has to be one of the best mids we have had in years.

I don't think he's quite Cullen, but I also don't think he is far off. Different types of centre mids of course.

Lots to like about Coventry very good player but shouldn’t even be mentioned in the same breath as Cullen.

Think that's a slight exaggeration personally to say they can't be mentioned in the same breath. I am not comparing him to Scott Parker here

Cullen has 4 years on Cov, I personally think they have had a similar impact here, no reason why Cov can't become the better player. He has the technique and the intelligence, all just coaching and minutes under his belt now.

I think you have to subtract what players call good fouls from his bookings. It is often midfielders who have to make them. Because he does have no issues dragging back, he needs to ensure he doesn't concede silly bookings but I'm not sure he does.

Don’t think either Connor or Cullen are up to Scott Parker levels but Connor is certainly improving and reaching Cullen standards IMO

Only negative is that he's a little on the slow side which can lead to the professional fouls. Doing very well at the moment, good to see him getting some recognition as it's usually the others.

I'd love to have Dobson in the squad,  and have 3 first choice midfielders in rotation for the midfield 2 spots.

But when Cullen played for us, he was three years younger than Coventry is now.

You can compare them defensively maybe, but Conor doesn't have half the ability Josh had with the ball at his feet.
