  • Interesting new thread on him on the Blackpool forum here

    Our old pal is back:

Would think he would have more on his mind, with Leyton sitting one point off the relegation places and losing 4 of the last 5 in the league

We've seen that players who score goals in the Championship demand big money. If Carey continues scoring at his current rate, he'll finish the season on 17 goals. What would his worth be then?

Big bucks. Hayden Hackney got 8 goal involvements last season and Ipswich bid £15m+ for him. Finn Azaz scored 12 with 11 assists and went for £12m+. It's not ridiculous to think that, if he plays like this all season, he could be worth approaching £10m. Would be remarkable if he played like this over 46 games though

He'd be worth more than than last summer's entire recruitment budget.

A lot more than what we paid for him 😉

The signing of the summer i was least excited for. He was the first one through the door and I decided that was because it was the easiest to get done. Now I think it was because he was most important. His link up play at start of the season with apter was a joy to watch, now it seems he links up just as well with Coventry. I would love to know what NJ said to him when he was subbed last night, he gave him a big hug and they was both smiling. Long may it continue. Fantastic signing.

Given that we are likely in a position where we don't need to sell, then if he did hit the numbers mentioned above, then i think we could easily demand for 12-15m for him.

Esse (although younger) went to Palace for 12m and he scored 6 goals in 3 years.

Problem is his hair's too dark for a wash in wash out job, so it'll just look brown with a faint hint of bronze. To go properly ginger he'd need to bleach it first, which is a bit much for gag, and I suspect his girlfriend wouldn't be especially impressed.

You seem to know a lot about this, are you Paulie in disguise?

No, I'm just reminded of an incident back in my student days. We were back a few days early for the start of term and had all gone to the pub for the evening, and had piled back to Little Dave's room. His next door neighbour was a guy called Andy, who was best described as goth-adjacent, and naturally had very dark brown hair like Lloyd Jones does. This particular evening, he'd wandered in with a faint mahogany red tint to his hair, because he'd used some wash-in wash-out red dye on it. Being fairly pissed myself I can't recall exactly how the conversation progressed as it did, but it ended up with Andy fishing out the remnants of the hair dye and applying it to Little Dave's hair. Unfortunately, Little Dave had mousey brown hair, so the colour took far more effectively than it did on Andy, and he woke up in the morning "looking like a duracell battery" as my mate Rik (who lived in the room on the other side of them) said.  Luckily the girls on the next floor up took pity on him, and went and got some more dye to tone it down a bit, so it looked more like Carey's in the video where's watching the goals back with Leaburn by the time I saw him.

I was at the Ipswich game with my 22 and 18 year old sons. I was singing along with the Carey song, but regularly reassuring my boys that I won’t let him shag their mum 😂

Be interesting to see if we become a big selling club or not, also wonder if there will be a lack of interest in our players purely on we don’t play possession based football or have technical players that 3/4 of managers in this league have wet dreams about.

Talk about jump the gun, he is on great form and scoring but talk of 17 goals for the season does seem a little ambitious (i wont complain if i am wrong), if he nets at the weekend we'll be talking of the ballon d'or..

He has really impressed of late, lets hope he can keep it up!

It was just a hypothetical. Unlikely he continues scoring at his current rate.
